Job Title: Senior IT Governance Lead / Manager

Location: Hybrid - 2 days a week on-site - Suitland, MD

Salary: 182,000- 228,000

Summary

We are seeking an experienced IT Governance Lead to establish, maintain, and mature our enterprise IT governance framework. In this role, you will align technology operations with corporate business strategy, ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations, and implement frameworks (e.g., COBIT, ITIL, ISO/IEC 38500) to optimize value delivery, mitigate IT risks, and maintain accountability across all technology initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Framework Implementation: Design, implement, and maintain enterprise IT governance frameworks across systems, cloud infrastructure, and data architectures.
  • Strategic Alignment: Partner with business unit leaders and IT leadership to ensure technology roadmaps directly support long-term corporate goals and deliver measurable ROI.
  • Risk & Compliance Management: Identify, assess, and report on IT-related business risks. Oversee compliance with industry standards, legal mandates, and internal policies (e.g., SOX, GDPR, HIPAA, NIST, DISA).
  • Policy & Oversight: Develop, review, and enforce IT policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and data governance guidelines. Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
  • Audit & Third-Party Governance: Direct internal and external IT audits, lead remediation efforts, and monitor vendor/third-party security and service-level agreements (SLAs).
  • Governance Committees: Lead and facilitate IT Steering Committee meetings, presenting executive reports on IT performance, portfolio investments, and compliance posture.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Experience: 7-10+ years of experience in IT governance, IT risk management, IT audit, or enterprise technology strategy.
  • Framework Mastery: Demonstrated expertise in COBIT, ITIL 4, ISO/IEC 38500, and ISO/IEC 27001.
  • Technical Breadth: Strong foundational knowledge of enterprise architecture, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), cybersecurity controls, and data lifecycle management.
  • Leadership & Communication: Proven ability to translate complex technical risks into clear business impacts for C-suite executives and board members.

Preferred Certifications
  • Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT)
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
  • Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC)
  • ITIL 4 Managing Professional or TOGAF Certification
