What you'll be doing

The Global Technology, Data and Artificial Intelligence (GTDAI) team at CIBC is responsible for delivering scalable, secure, and modern technology solutions that enable innovation across the enterprise. This team plays a critical role in advancing enterprise data capabilities that support analytics, operational efficiency, and AI initiatives across the bank. As the Senior Director, Enterprise Data Engineering, you'll lead the development and evolution of enterprise data engineering capabilities, standards, and platforms across CIBC. You'll provide strategic leadership to multiple engineering teams responsible for building scalable and reliable data solutions that support business and technology objectives. Working closely with business leaders, technology partners, architecture, and platform teams, you'll help drive modernization, operational excellence, and trusted enterprise data capabilities across the organization.

  • Engineering Excellence - Champion modern engineering practices including observability, monitoring, reliability engineering, automation, and platform modernization.
  • Stakeholder Management - Collaborate with enterprise architecture, platform, infrastructure, governance, and delivery teams to align technology solutions with business priorities.
  • Transformation - Support enterprise-wide modernization initiatives by enabling scalable, governed, and trusted data capabilities across the organization.


Who you are
  • You can demonstrate 10+ years of progressive experience in. data engineering, enterprise data platforms, data architecture, or technology leadership roles. You have strong expertise in enterprise data engineering, ETL/ELT frameworks, distributed data processing, metadata management, and scalable data platform solutions. You can demonstrate hands-on experience with technologies such as Python, Java, Scala, SQL, and modern cloud-based data ecosystems. You understand modern engineering and operational practices including monitoring, observability, automation, platform reliability, and operational support models.
