We are seeking a Senior Buyer to join our team in Vancouver for upcoming projects. In this role you will be responsible for the end-to-end procurement of materials and equipment in support of engineering and construction projects, from project initiation through purchase order close-out. This role manages the sourcing, bidding, award, administration, and delivery of tagged, bulk, and engineered materials, while ensuring compliance with project requirements, company procedures, and applicable legislation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the procurement of materials and equipment for assigned projects, including local and international purchasing activities.
• Develop and implement project-specific purchasing strategies, procedures, templates, and documentation in collaboration with the Project Procurement Manager.
• Provide guidance, oversight, and mentorship to buyers and procurement team members.
• Support supplier prequalification and bidder selection processes.
• Coordinate with engineering, project controls, quality, logistics, and other project stakeholders to prepare and execute procurement packages.
• Prepare, issue, and administer RFQs, bid documents, addenda, purchase orders, and contractual documentation.
• Manage the complete tendering process, including bidder communications, bid evaluations, commercial negotiations, award recommendations, and purchase order issuance.
• Ensure procurement activities are conducted with integrity and in accordance with project, corporate, and regulatory requirements.
• Administer purchase orders, including change management, revisions, claims, back charges, and close-out activities.
• Support progress payment reviews and approvals in coordination with project and accounting teams.
• Monitor supplier performance and expedite equipment, materials, vendor documentation, and deliverables to maintain project schedules.
• Coordinate with quality and logistics teams to ensure inspections, non-conformance resolutions, shipping documentation, customs requirements, and deliveries are completed in accordance with purchase order terms and Incoterms.
• Maintain accurate procurement records and reporting data, providing regular status updates to project teams and clients.
• Interface with suppliers, clients, and internal stakeholders to proactively resolve procurement, expediting, and delivery issues.
• Ensure all purchase orders are properly closed and documented in accordance with project and company requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant technical qualification or trade qualification in relevant discipline
• Demonstrated 12-18 years+ experience as a Buyer
• Experience as a Buyer in local and international markets
• Experience working on large or complex projects
• High degree of technical aptitude and familiarity with various materials, fabrication processes and supply items
• Ability to attain quality, cost and schedule objectives and strong deliverable focus
• Strong technical focus with a good understanding of engineering concepts
• A high degree of understanding of interdisciplinary dependencies related to the discipline
• Good understanding of procurement, contracting, pre-operational verification and commissioning methodologies
• Knowledge of ISO 9000 and ISO 19011
• Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
• A strong focus toward clients
• Working knowledge of SmartPlant system (or similar) is advantageous.
• Know and comply with all regulations and legislative requirements
• Excellent understanding of project execution, especially materials management and scheduling.

Salary range: $102,000 to $136,000
