Full Job Description
Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant will own various GL accounting process areas within the monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities for the Company. In addition to period-end close activities, the Senior Accountant will assist with financial reporting, audit preparation and support, and the maintenance and improvement of accounting policies and procedures. This individual will bring deep expertise in public accounting and/or industry experience, and this role will operate as a trusted subject matter expert working cross-functionally across the organization to drive timely and accurate financial results. The role sits in our Chicago office four days per week, reports to the Accounting Manager, and offers meaningful exposure to senior finance leadership.

Responsibilities:
  • Own day-to-day accounting for a variety of accounts including accruals, fixed assets, leases, prepaids, intangibles, and other GL accounting areas. This responsibility would include recording journal entries, preparing reconciliations, and supporting analyses
  • Execute key aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, completing of financial reporting deliverables, including balance sheet reconciliations and income statement variance analysis
  • Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and procedures to support close requirements and scale with the business, including researching technical accounting guidance as needed
  • Partner cross-functionally with FP&A as well as operations teams across the organization to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Provide financial insights and reporting to internal stakeholders, including FP&A and other business partners, and prepare support for the external audit and respond to various requests and inquiries
  • Independently identify, champion and implement process improvements and automation initiatives within the accounting function
  • Serve as a key accounting resource on acquisition integration activities as OpenGov continues to grow though M&A.


Requirements and Preferred Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a public accounting or high-growth SaaS/technology environment required
  • Solid command of US GAAP, financial statements, and reporting requirements required
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite experience preferred) and strong Excel skills required
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required
  • Experience with one or more of the following areas preferred: Accruals, Fixed Assets, Partner Fees, Leases, and Prepaids
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Compensation:

Chicago, IL: $100,000 - $110,000

On target ranges above include base plus a portion of variable compensation that is earned based on company and individual performance.

The final compensation will be determined by a number of factors such as qualifications, expertise, and the candidate's geographical location.
