At this time, we are only able to consider candidates who reside and work in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, or Ontario, where the company is registered to operate.Trinnex, a wholly owned subsidiary of CDM Smith, is seeking a Quality Engineer with strong experience in modern test automation, cloud-based testing, and AI-assisted quality engineering, including hands-on use of AI-assisted tooling, agents, and skills. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated testing across APIs, web applications, mobile applications, and performance/load testing scenarios. The position also supports continuous improvement of QA processes, test reliability, CI/CD integration, AI-assisted QA enablement, and technical mentoring for QA team members. Work is performed under limited supervision and requires sound judgment, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Designs, develops, and maintains automated test suites across API, web, mobile, and performance testing domains.
- Builds reusable test utilities, fixtures, and frameworks that improve reliability, reduce maintenance effort, support consistent test data, and reduce flakiness.
- Develops mobile test automation, including simulator and emulator execution, mobile authentication flows, API mocking strategies, and mobile CI/CD integration.
- Develops and applies AI-assisted tooling, agents, and skills to support test review, debugging, documentation, automation maintenance, and developer productivity.
- Supports scalable cloud-based load testing using Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, and related infrastructure practices.
- Analyzes requirements, test results, defects, logs, traces, and performance metrics to identify risks, root causes, business impact, and opportunities for quality improvement.
- Integrates automated tests into CI/CD pipelines with effective reporting, parallel execution, environment management, and failure analysis.
- Establishes QA best practices, coding standards, documentation, and troubleshooting guidance for automation and cloud-based testing.
- Reviews test automation pull requests and provides clear feedback on reliability, maintainability, and quality.
- Mentors junior QA analysts and collaborates with development, product, and operations teams to improve testing outcomes.
- Performs other duties as required.

Skills & Abilities- Advanced experience with web, API, mobile, and load testing frameworks such as Playwright, Jest, Maestro, Artillery, or similar tools.
- Strong experience developing automation with Node.js, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript patterns.
- Experience with iOS and Android mobile testing, including simulator and emulator management, mobile authentication flows, YAML-based test definitions, and mobile CI/CD integration.
- Ability to design maintainable automation frameworks using async patterns, error handling, reusable components, and clean coding practices.
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GKE), Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and related quality engineering practices.
- Required hands-on experience using AI-assisted tooling, agents, and skills to support testing, debugging, documentation, code review, workflow automation, or quality engineering outcomes.
- Ability to analyze complex failures using debugging tools, logs, traces, and performance data; troubleshoot reliability issues; and reduce test flakiness.
- Strong communication, documentation, collaboration, presentation, and code review skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
- Ability to mentor others, facilitate technical discussions, influence without direct authority, navigate ambiguity, and manage multiple priorities.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree.
- 5 years of related experience.
Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
Preferred Qualifications- Hands-on experience with Playwright for complex end-to-end testing scenarios, including authentication, visual testing, and multi-step workflows.
- Hands-on experience with Maestro for mobile test automation, preferably with React Native or native iOS/Android applications.
- Background in API testing, authentication flows, identity platforms, or related application integration testing.
- Experience deploying or managing Kubernetes workloads on GKE or similar managed Kubernetes platforms.
