Full Job Description
Position: Nurse Manager
Dept: Austin Blvd Emergency Dept
Shift: Full Time 8am - 4:30pm (varied as needed) / 80 Hours per Pay Period
Facility: Miami Valley Hospital

The increasing impact of market forces on health care management requires Nurse Managers to be correspondingly alert to match their activities to these market forces. The Nurse Manager has responsibilities for a functional area of patient services and must collaborate with others to achieve strategic objectives and maintain the overall health of a specific community segment consistent with our position as the Region's Leader in health care delivery.

The Nurse Manager is specifically responsible to take actions for:
  • Ensuring cost-effective and efficient processes and outcome management for internal and external customers.
  • Achieving seamless delivery of service by appropriately involving colleagues, physicians, other customers, and staff to ensure commitment, communication, and cross-functional linkages.
  • Collaborating in developing and implementing processes that achieve strategically relevant quality outcomes in a specific functional area.
  • Overseeing and developing systems to ensure accountability for operations and managerial effectiveness.
  • Articulating unit vision and utilizing resources to ensure staff commitment to strategic and unit objectives.
  • Developing a team of highly skilled professionals.

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required; Master's preferred
Licensure/Certification: A valid Ohio RN License is Required. BLS Required upon hire. ACLS and PALS required within 6 months of hire. TNCC required within a year of hire. CEN preferred.
Experience: A minimum of three years of progressive leadership experience is required. A minimum of 3 years of current clinical experience in an Emergency Department or equivalent environment is required.
