  • Create detailed drawing packages, costed BOMs, and manage documentation releases
  • Encourage innovation through technical investigations and analysis

Full Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

In this position, you will:

  • Design and develop low and mid-volume (10,000's per year) industrial or commercial products using manufacturing processes such as injection molding, sheet metal forming and machining
  • Work cross functionally with other Global Technology groups as well as Product & Business Development, Approvals, Operations and Supply
  • Drive all aspects of design and development, including:
    • Gathering voice of customer (VOC) information
    • Generate technical specifications based on internal, customer, and external approvals agency requirements
    • Mechanical design, material selection and drafting
    • Tolerance analysis
    • Mechanical, thermal, and electrical analysis
    • Creating design review packets and presenting it to a wider audience
    • Working with supply chain to identify vendors and long lead parts
    • Transfer of designs to manufacturing
    • Support of products post-launch - FAI, VA/VE, Sustaining
  • Coordinate all aspects of design verification including
    • Selection of prototyping methods
    • Creation of test plans based on engineering specifications and standards
    • Coordinate tests with the technician team
    • Interpretation of data and report generation
  • Create drawing packages, costed BOMs and product specifications
  • Manage the documentation package release through established PLM guidelines
  • Drive innovation through technical investigations

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
    • Other degrees will be considered with relevant Design or Product Development experience.
  • 2+ years' experience in mechanical design
    • MS/PhD may be considered in lieu of some experience
  • Skills
    • Designing sheet metal, machined and injection molded parts
    • Top down assembly design - how, when and why
    • DFM/DFA and ease of installation in the field
    • Engineering drawing creation to drafting standards - knowledge of GD&T is a bonus
    • Extensive experience with MCAD design software - SolidWorks preferred
    • Experience with PLM software - Dassault Enovia preferred
    • Experience with ERP systems
    • Reading and interpreting Standards (IEC, UL, CSA, etc.) and translating them into design requirements and test plans
    • Prototyping and iterating
    • Ability to define and set up mechanical tests
    • Ability to define and set up electrical tests
    • Report writing and seminar presentations to a wide audience

Pay Transparency

Chemelex's pay scale is based on the expected range of compensation for this job and the employee's work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply.

Compensation Range: $75,500 - $107,900

Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation.
