Full Job Description
The Role

Reporting to the Director, Accounting Policy, the Manager, Accounting Policy, Financial Policy and Reporting is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and implementing CPP Investments' accounting policies to ensure compliance with the CPPIB Act and applicable accounting standards. The role provides accounting policy expertise across the organization and its wholly owned group companies, partners with stakeholders on complex investment transactions, supports financial reporting, and drives continuous improvement through scalable processes and the use of emerging AI technologies.

The Team

Finance plays a critical role in supporting CPP Investments' long-term investment mandate through financial stewardship, governance, reporting, and business partnership. The department provides trusted financial insight while ensuring strong controls, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence across the organization.

The Financial Policy & Reporting team is responsible for developing and maintaining CPP Investments' accounting policies, providing accounting advisory support on complex investment activities, and ensuring compliance with evolving accounting standards. The team partners closely with Investment Departments, Legal, Operations, and other Finance teams to deliver high-quality financial reporting and pragmatic accounting guidance.

Accountabilities
  • Research and provide accounting guidance on complex investments and entity structures, including developing internal accounting policies and supporting enterprise initiatives with accounting implications.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on accounting control assessments and collaborate across Investment Departments, Finance, Legal, and Operations to ensure appropriate accounting treatment for transactions.
  • Support quarterly and annual financial reporting as an accounting policy subject matter expert while maintaining controls over accounting policy development and implementation.
  • Monitor emerging accounting standards, assess organizational impacts, and recommend appropriate implementation strategies.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with external accounting service providers, co-source partners, and industry peers.
  • Lead or contribute to strategic initiatives that improve processes, strengthen governance, and leverage AI technologies to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Contribute to departmental objectives and collaborate across functions to resolve complex business issues while supporting additional priorities as required.


What You Bring
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent globally recognized designation), or actively working toward completion.
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting and finance experience, including exposure to accounting policy, financial reporting, or accounting advisory.
  • Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS); experience with IFRS 9 and IFRS 10 is considered a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated interest in emerging AI technologies with the ability to learn and apply AI tools, prompt engineering, and workflow automation to improve business outcomes.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships, influence stakeholders, and manage multiple priorities within a complex organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing reports and presenting recommendations to diverse audiences.
