Summary: Huron's Education & Research practice is seeking a Manager to join our growing Risk & Compliance solution. This role supports colleges and universities, academic medical centers, health systems, research institutes, and other mission-driven organizations in navigating complex regulatory, operational, and governance challenges. Managers lead client engagements focused on institutional compliance, governance, enterprise risk management, regulatory investigations, and related compliance functions. Successful candidates bring strong project leadership skills, executive presence, and subject matter expertise in one or more areas of regulatory compliance and organizational risk management. Managers are responsible for leading project workstreams, supervising consulting teams, developing client relationships, and helping institutions design and implement sustainable compliance and governance frameworks. Key Responsibilities: - Lead consulting projects related to compliance program effectiveness, governance, enterprise risk management, and regulatory compliance. - Collaborate with client staff and leadership and implement comprehensive solutions to improve organizational structures, policies, controls, governance models, and operational practices. - Facilitate executive interviews, stakeholder workshops, and governance discussions with institutional leadership. - Support institutions in responding to regulatory inquiries, audits, investigations, and emerging compliance requirements. - Develop actionable recommendations, implementation roadmaps, and future-state operating models. - Support project teams in evaluating regulatory, compliance, governance, and operational risks associated with strategic affiliations, mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other partnership arrangements. - Advise institutional leaders on compliance implications associated with emerging strategic initiatives, collaborations, and expansion opportunities - Manage project teams, mentor junior staff, and ensure quality delivery of engagement work products. - Contribute to business development efforts through proposal development, thought leadership, and client relationship management. Skills & Tools: - Strong consulting, project leadership, and relationship management skills with the ability to engage effectively with executive leadership, compliance professionals, attorneys, and university and healthcare stakeholders - Demonstrated experience leading complex initiatives or assessments, facilitating stakeholder discussions, and managing multidisciplinary project teams. - Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentations and facilitation. Qualifications: - Minimum 7 years of experience in consulting, higher education, healthcare, compliance, regulatory affairs, legal services, governance, risk management, or related fields. - Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required - Juris Doctor (J.D.), Master's Degree, MPA, MPH, MBA, or other relevant advanced degree preferred. - Willingness and ability to travel on a 50% basis annually; work extended hours as necessary Preferred: - Prior consulting experience - Experience working within a university, academic medical center, health system, research institute, government agency, or regulatory organization. - Experience conducting investigations, compliance assessments, audits, or regulatory reviews. - Experience in specialized higher education compliance functions, such as athletics compliance, Title IX, Clery Act, research compliance or privacy - Knowledge of federal regulatory requirements impacting higher education and academic medical centers - Experience with data privacy, cybersecurity governance, AI governance, or emerging regulatory frameworks. - Experience supporting organizational transformation, governance redesign, or operating model development. - Experience supporting intercollegiate athletics programs, including NCAA compliance, athletics governance, NIL compliance, investigations, institutional control assessments, or athletics-related risk management initiatives - Experience supporting strategic transactions, affiliations, mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, or large-scale organizational transformations within higher education, healthcare, research, or other highly regulated environments The estimated base salary for this job is 140,000- $185,000 The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel. This job is also eligible to participate in Huron's annual incentive compensation program, which reflects Huron's pay for performance philosophy. Inclusive of annual incentive compensation opportunity, the total estimated compensation range for this job is $168,000 - $222,000.
