As part of a small, accomplished team of experts, you will keep Blue Origin's engineers working.
Endpoint Administration includes systems management and networking disciplines - the architecture, design, and implementation of services such as identity, endpoint management, data storage, and virtual compute resources. This is a hands-on administrator role with real ownership across the fleet, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux workstation platform.
We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required.
ResponsibilitiesLinux workstation platform and imaging- Design, build, and operate the Red Hat Enterprise Linux workstation platform for engineering users, including Red Hat Satellite content management, host groups, activation keys, and lifecycle environments.
- Design and maintain reusable Infrastructure as Code modules, templates, and patterns for workstation provisioning and configuration that are used across multiple projects and teams.
- Build and maintain end-to-end imaging paths - network provisioning and removable-media autoinstaller - and validate them across the supported hardware catalog.
- Integrate security-by-design into the platform: standardized secure baselines, disk encryption, certificate-based network access, endpoint agent enrollment, and policy enforcement applied through automation rather than by hand.
- Produce imaging and support runbooks for the help desk, and validate them with a non-author so the platform is supportable outside the team that built it.
- Drive implementation of automated guardrails, including configuration compliance checks and pre-deployment validation, for the platforms you own.
Technical leadership- Define project deliverables and select appropriate hardware, software, and cloud solutions to meet project needs.
- Develop technical plans for team review, and provide input to program planning on schedule and effort.
- Lead cross-team infrastructure efforts that depend on automation and standardized provisioning.
- Review and approve significant infrastructure and automation changes for alignment with organizational standards and risk tolerance.
- Be a go-to resource for automation, provisioning, and license infrastructure, and mentor other administrators and engineers.
- Collaborate with security, architecture, and operations teams to ensure changes support required security and reliability objectives.
- Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
- Regular participation in on-call rotation.
- Available to support flexible work hours to support various organizational objectives.
Qualifications- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in information technology in system administration or systems engineering.
- Strong Linux system administration skills, with Red Hat Enterprise Linux experience required.
- Windows Server administration for hosted application and license services.
- Demonstrated automation and Infrastructure as Code experience, with the ability to author reusable roles and playbooks rather than one-off scripts. Ansible strongly preferred.
- Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, and/or PowerShell) to optimize for consistency and efficiency.
- Experience with endpoint provisioning and imaging at scale, including network boot and unattended installation.
- Active Directory administration and an understanding of directory-integrated authentication on Linux.
- Experience implementing monitoring and alerting for services you own.
- Hardware and software troubleshooting and support.
- Customer-service-oriented attitude to support and instruct computer users with technical backgrounds.
Desired- Red Hat Satellite or Foreman experience, including provisioning templates and content lifecycle management.
- Experience building systems to CUI, CMMC, NIST 800-171, or DISA STIG requirements.
- Familiarity with disk encryption at scale (LUKS, BitLocker) and with key escrow and recovery workflows.
- Experience with certificate-based network access (802.1X) and enterprise VPN clients on Linux.
- Exposure to license utilization reporting and software asset management practices.
- Git-based workflows and peer review for infrastructure code.
- Experience improving a service from manual operation toward automated, self-service delivery.
