Full Job Description
We are looking for a Director, Integration & Automation Engineering to build and lead the team that powers Oura's Business Technology Services (BTS) and enterprise integration platform. This team owns the reusable API- and event-driven services that connect our core business systems and data platforms, along with our iPaaS and automation delivery surface. The role is central to driving Operational Excellence and enabling Profitable Growth as Oura scales globally and moves toward public-company readiness, while positioning the integration stack to absorb emerging AI and agentic patterns over time.
What you will do
  • Build and lead a high-performing, globally distributed Integration & Automation Engineering team, transitioning from contractor-led delivery to a durable FTE organization without loss of delivery velocity.
  • Own Oura's Business Technology Services (BTS) and core integration platform, delivering reusable API- and event-driven services that decouple SaaS applications from the ERP and reduce point-to-point integration debt.
  • Own Workato (our iPaaS platform of record) as a delivery surface for enterprise integrations and automations, establishing patterns that are observable, secure, and reusable across Business Technology teams, and enhancing the iPaaS environment to be enterprise-grade with proper CI/CD pipelines and code-promotion practices.
  • Define and run the operating model for integrations and automation across IT - intake, prioritization, capacity management, and roadmap - in close partnership with Enterprise Architecture and Business Technology directors.
  • Establish and embed reliability practices (observability, SLOs, on-call, incident management, runbooks) for mission-critical integration services so order, ERP, finance, and CX flows remain stable across time zones.
  • Partner with Security, Data, and Finance to ensure integrations that touch SOX-relevant or sensitive data are auditable, well-governed, and change-managed.
  • Stay close to the AI Productivity team's work on agents and MCP-based integration patterns, help develop the next generation of an Agentic Workforce to collaborate with a limited SRE staff to deliver advanced insights and automations, and identify when AI-augmented workflows and agent-to-system integrations are ready to be absorbed into the team's production remit.
  • Act as a visible technical leader and communicator for integration and automation across Oura - clearly explaining trade-offs, risks, and platform strategy to executives and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements

We would love to consider you for this role if you have:
  • 12+ years building and operating integration platforms, iPaaS, or API services in modern SaaS environments, including ERP and other mission-critical business systems.
  • 5+ years managing engineers (including senior/staff-level ICs) and technical program leaders, with responsibility for hiring, performance management, and building healthy, distributed engineering teams.
  • 3+ years developing digital AI products and AI-augmented integrations, using agentic coding techniques (including "vibe coding" and similar LLM-driven development approaches), and leading engineering teams that create and manage agent-developed applications and integrations in production.
  • Deep technical experience with modern integration patterns (event-driven, REST/GraphQL, webhooks) and at least one major iPaaS platform (e.g., Workato, Boomi, MuleSoft, Tray, n8n) plus a cloud-native integration stack (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Proven track record operating engineering platform teams whose primary customers are other engineering or business teams, including clear intake discipline, capacity planning, SLAs/SLOs, and outcome-focused roadmaps.
  • Experience working in or around SOX-relevant systems and ITGC controls, with an appreciation for audit-defensible change management in integration and automation code paths.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead engineers across multiple time zones, with thoughtful approaches to on-call, incident response, communication, and collaboration in a distributed environment.
  • Genuine curiosity and practical experience with AI-augmented workflows - you understand how agents, MCP-style patterns, or LLM-based assistants can support integration and operations work, and you know how to separate real opportunities from hype.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; able to translate integration and platform strategy into clear narratives for executives, finance leaders, and engineering peers, and to influence prioritization across functions.
