Position Description: This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto and/or Client office (44 King St. W) at a minimum 2 days per week subject to change at any time.
We are seeking a highly motivated DataStage Operations Lead with strong hands-on development experience to support and manage production and lower environments while ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of critical data integration processes.
This role is ideal for an experienced professional with 6-10 years of experience in DataStage development and production support who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring applications, leading production issue resolution, supporting deployments, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain high service levels and operational excellence.
Your future duties and responsibilities: Production Support & Operations
Lead day-to-day operations and support activities across production and non-production environments.
Monitor applications, jobs, and system performance to ensure availability and stability.
Respond to alerts and incidents promptly, working toward resolution within established SLAs.
Conduct routine system health checks and operational validations.
Perform post-deployment validations and support release activities.
Participate in disaster recovery (DR), business continuity planning (BCP), patching, and related environment management activities.
Maintain detailed operational logs, support documentation, and issue tracking records.
Incident & Problem Management
Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues with minimal supervision.
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and document findings, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
Raise and track support tickets through resolution while ensuring timely communication with stakeholders.
Lead incident management activities and coordinate with internal and external teams as required.
Drive resolution of complex production issues while minimizing business impact.
Development & Technical Support
Provide hands-on DataStage development and support as needed.
Analyze data flows and identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.
Develop, validate, and troubleshoot SQL queries to support operational and business requirements.
Collaborate with development teams by providing recommendations and technical guidance.
Ensure production processes meet quality and performance standards.
Stakeholder & Vendor Collaboration
Work effectively with team members across multiple locations and time zones.
Collaborate with various support, infrastructure, application, and development teams.
Lead discussions with vendors and external partners to support issue resolution and operational activities.
Provide regular reporting on service performance, incidents, trends, and operational metrics.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role: 6-10 years of experience supporting and managing DataStage production and non-production environments.
Strong hands-on experience with IBM DataStage development and support.
Proven technical expertise with:
IBM DataStage
DB2
Unix/Linux environments
AutoSys Scheduler
SQL
Experience analyzing and troubleshooting complex data flows and ETL processes.
Strong background in production support, monitoring, incident management, and problem resolution.
Experience performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
Ability to independently lead complex production issues through to resolution.
Experience supporting deployments, environment maintenance, and operational readiness activities.
Knowledge of service management processes and IT operational best practices.
Preferred
Experience within enterprise-scale data integration and data warehouse environments.
Exposure to disaster recovery and business continuity planning processes.
Familiarity with production support reporting, operational metrics, and service performance management.
Experience working in client-facing and highly regulated environments.
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $80,000-$130,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
