About The Role:
Assistant Real Estate Controller is responsible for the coordination and review of the accounting for a portfolio of office properties. Additionally, this role will be a key resource in the review of significant accounting transaction to ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS as well as Tax requirements and will serve under a management and oversight role in special projects as they arise. The position works closely with other Property Accounting and Regional leaders, business owners, Internal Audit, and the Company's external auditor.
The Controller will continuously improve policies, processes, systems and controls as part of the Company's operational excellence initiatives. This position will report directly to Controller and additionally to the respective Regional Leadership Team for the office property portfolio the GL Accounting Sr. Manager oversees.
What You'll Do:
Provide formal supervision to Accounting Managers, Accounting Supervisors, and/or Senior Real Estate Accountants/Financial Accountants. Monitor the training and development of staff. Conduct performance evaluations and coaching. Oversee the recruiting and hiring of new employees.
Coordinate and manage the team's daily activities. Establish work schedules, assign tasks, and cross-train staff. Set and track staff and department goal dates. Mentor and coach as needed.
Create a positive customer experience by opening and maintaining constructive and reliable lines of communication. Review items being handled by junior team members. Coach and mentor as needed.
Prepare periodic complex financial statements and approve audit and tax preparation documents.
Point of contact for the implementation and maintenance of the accounting and reporting systems, providing technical expertise.
Assist executive management with the implementation of strategic department and corporate initiatives.
Review and verify financial information including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements prior to submittal to large and high-profile clients.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues and ensure internal and external customer requests are handled timely, accurately, and with a focus on customer service.
Monitor financial performance and provide a forward-looking view and strategic advice to the executive management team.
Apply a broad knowledge of the business, specific field, and how it integrates with others to achieve team and departmental objectives.
Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Influence others to adopt a different point of view while being guided by policies and departmental plans.
Identify and solve technical and operational problems of complexity.

Bachelor's Degree preferred in Accounting or Finance with 7 -10 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
A preferred professional /state licensing for this position include Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Required skills for the position include general accounting principles and processes, analytical and detail oriented, perform quality assurance reviews, prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines, communication - written and oral, and accounting software systems.
Experience in the areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention is preferred.
Ability to own the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information, convey performance expectations, and handle problems.
Leadership skills to motivate the team to achieve broad operational targets with impacts on own job field, multiple job fields, and department.
CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate's education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Assistant Controller position is $140,000 annually and the maximum salary for the Assistant Controller position is $160,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE's applicable benefit program.
