The University of New England (UNE) is a private university in Biddeford, Maine. It was founded in 1939 as a preparatory school for college. It later became Westbrook College, a women's college, before adopting its current name and becoming coeducational in 1978. UNE offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree programs in various fields, including health sciences, natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. The university has two campuses in Maine, in Biddeford and Portland, as well as a campus in Tangier, Morocco.
