Full Job Description
Web Designer, Contract (1099)

Location: Remote, Seattle area preferred, Pacific time zone required, able to commute to the Seattle area once a week for an in person design review
Reports to: Head of Marketing Communications
Engagement type: Independent contractor, 1099
Hours: 40 hours per week through the December 18, 2026 contract end
Pay: $65 - $70 per hour
Contract term: September 2026 through December 18, 2026, with the site live date on December 9
About the Role

We are hiring a Web Designer on contract to own our website from strategy through execution and ongoing maintenance. This is not a build-only role. You will run the full design process yourself, from audit and ideation through creative concepts and a finished, published site, and you will lead the conversations that get you the content you need to build it. The scope below reflects where we are today and will grow over the course of the contract.

This role reports to our Head of Marketing Communications and works closely with our brand, launch campaign, and content contributors, whose copy and images feed directly into your build.
What You Will Do
  • Own website strategy and execution end-to-end, from initial audit through a published, maintained site
  • Lead an industry audit and a competitive design audit to ground the site in the current market and design landscape
  • Partner on our design framework and gather inspiration to shape the creative direction
  • Define what each page needs to accomplish and outline the artwork and content it will carry
  • Turn outlines into creative concepts and lead the team through rounds of creative review
  • Build the site in HTML5, from structure through final polish
  • Implement SEO and AIO foundations into the site structure and pages
  • Partner with our engineering team on the HubSpot connection, which they own
  • Lead communications with content and brand contributors to ensure you have the finished copy and images each page needs before you build it
  • Run customer testing with current customers and revise the site based on what you learn
  • Publish the site by the December 9 live date and track traffic after launch to ensure it is working as planned
  • Maintain the site through the end of the contract and keep it current as new content and pages come in
Who You Are
  • A strong portfolio showing website work you have led from strategy through a finished, published site
  • Skilled in HTML5, with experience hosted on Google infrastructure
  • Comfortable implementing SEO best practices and optimizing for AI-driven search and discovery
  • An excellent creative, with a strong point of view on design and the instincts to defend it
  • A confident communicator who can lead cross-functional partners to deliver the content and assets a build needs, rather than waiting on what shows up
  • Comfortable owning a process end to end, including audits, ideation, and testing, not just execution
  • Organized and able to manage a live build alongside ongoing maintenance
  • Available full time for the duration of the contract, through December 18
  • Based in the Pacific time zone, Seattle area preferred, and able to commute to the Seattle area once a week for in-person design reviews when needed.
Nice to Have
  • Experience running a full website redesign for a B2B or technology company
  • Familiarity with AI or agent-based products
  • Experience partnering with a brand team on a shared visual identity
