Salesforce is seeking a Technical Product Strategist to join our Product Strategy & Innovation team. This is a unique opportunity to operate at the intersection of market dynamics, product positioning, and complex technical architecture—helping define where Salesforce invests, how we position our platform, and why.
You will contribute to our forward-looking technology thesis. Rather than managing sprint backlogs, feature prioritization, or short-term execution roadmaps, you will work within a team of technical product strategists to identify emerging white spaces, evaluate build-buy-partner options, and translate macro market shifts into actionable platform strategies.
We are looking for a strategy professional who looks ahead of trends—someone who can systematically analyze portfolio gaps, evaluate technical investment options, and help build the strategic frameworks that will shape our enterprise platform.
From analyzing productization pathways for core capabilities—spanning trust infrastructure, workflow automation, and agentic AI architectures—to researching investment theses around high-growth sectors like supply chain agentification, developer tooling, and AI-native systems of record, you will help ensure Salesforce invests in the right bets with sound commercial and technical models.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Support Long-Range Product Strategy: Conduct market research, whitespace analyses, and competitive evaluations to support multi-year positioning frameworks across Salesforce's enterprise AI and platform portfolio.
- Analyze Productization Pathways: Evaluate the strategic transition of internal technical capabilities—trust infrastructure, workflow automation, agentic AI, and data platforms—into standalone product lines or platform-integrated offerings.
- Apply Build-Buy-Partner Frameworks: Execute structural evaluations for build vs. buy vs. partner decisions, analyzing platform integration timelines versus independent go-to-market strategies.
- Translate Market & Tech Paradigms: Track foundational shifts—including agentic coding, AI-native application architectures, supply chain automation, and open-source ecosystems—and translate them into clear, data-driven investment theses.
- Map Portfolio Gaps: Collaborate with strategy leads and product management to identify portfolio vulnerabilities and market opportunities beyond standard competitive analysis.
- Synthesize Cross-Functional Signals: Integrate technical research, engineering capabilities, market intelligence, and M&A trends into defensible strategic perspectives.
- Assess Market Viability: Perform market sizing, economic modeling, and competitive analyses to help justify capital allocation and strategic shifts.
- Support Global Strategy Initiatives: Work with regional leadership to adapt platform strategies for international markets, accounting for local regulatory frameworks and competitive landscapes.
- Evaluate Go-to-Market Models: Analyze monetization frameworks—open source, platform-bundled, standalone SaaS, API-first—balancing long-term revenue potential, developer adoption, and defensibility.
- Monitor Horizon Signals: Track venture capital activity, developer ecosystem shifts, and emerging research to surface tech paradigms before they become industry consensus.
- Deliver Executive Recommendations: Draft clear, well-structured strategic memos and presentations for strategy directors, product VPs, and senior leadership.
You're Our Person If You Have:
- 5–8 years of experience (post-undergrad or post-grad degree) across product strategy, technology strategy, corporate strategy, management consulting, or technical product management at a leading cloud platform or enterprise software company.
- Strong structural understanding of enterprise AI/ML architectures, agentic systems, and platform integration patterns.
- Fluency in enterprise systems of record, data platforms, and SaaS infrastructure, including an understanding of how AI layers impact software economics.
- Solid grounding in business model design, including the trade-offs between open-source, proprietary, platform-native, and API commercialization models.
- Experience contributing to build-buy-partner evaluations, market entry strategies, or M&A market research.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a track record of translating complex, multi-variable technical topics into clear executive narratives.
- High comfort with ambiguity and strong quantitative/qualitative problem-solving skills to define unstructured problems and test strategic hypotheses.
Even Better If You Have:
- Master’s degree (MBA, MS, or equivalent) in a business or technical field.
- Background in technical strategy, corporate innovation, or tech strategy consulting.
- Familiarity with developer platform ecosystems, AI-assisted software development, and modern developer tooling.
- Domain exposure to enterprise supply chain automation, process agentification, or vertical AI applications.
- Experience in venture capital, corporate development, or tech investment analysis.
- A builder's mindset focused on evaluating new markets, business models, and emerging paradigms rather than optimizing existing feature backlogs.
