Position Description & Qualifications

Are you a Systems Administrator and looking for a place to make a difference every day? Serco is the place for you! Discover your place through this exciting opportunity supporting our Anti-Terrorism Force-Protection (AT/FP) Naval Electronic Surveillance Systems (NESS) program and the United States Navy in Norfolk, VA.

Our AT/FP NESS program provides life-cycle management, integration, acquisition, and technical support for vehicle gates, personnel turnstiles, and remote surveillance in support of anti-terrorism and the safety of our citizens/service-members.

Serco is seeking a Systems Administrator to support the lab and deployment, integrating and installing physical security systems including maintaining the systems with patches and upgrades.

In this role, you will:
  • Execute and assess technical changes in a production environment
  • Provide system administration support for Windows OS and Server
  • Install new software releases and system upgrades.
  • Evaluate and install security patches and resolves software related problems.
  • Perform system backups and recovery.
  • Maintain data files and monitors system configuration to ensure system and data integrity.
  • Maintain the configuration baselines for the system
  • Compose step by step repeatable procedures
  • Work with a worldwide team, coordinates systems that integrate with Security and Emergency operations centers


To be successful in this role, you must have:
  • An active Secret DoD Security Clearance
    • US Citizenship
  • DoD IAT Level II compliant certification
  • High School Diploma/GED and 8 years of experience
    • OR a Bachelors Degree with 5 years experience
  • Working knowledge of scanning and patching within VMWare ESXi hypervisor
  • Working knowledge of operating systems security features and settings (e.g. Windows, Unix, and/or Linux)
  • Working knowledge of servers, software, networking equipment and infrastructure
  • Experience writing scripts to automate routine tasks
  • Experience troubleshooting network and system security administration
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Additional desired experience and skills:
  • Experience with creating scripts within PowerShell
  • Deep knowledge with Group Policy
