Full Job Description
Bowhead seeks a Systems Administrator with Red Hat Enterprise Linux experience. The System Administrator will provide Information Technology (IT) customer support and technical assistance to developers and users. This position will require installation, operation, configuration, customization and usage of assigned products installed on tactical systems. Support also includes non-standard propriety support of various test equipment used for Research, Development, Testing, and Evaluation (RDT&E) of proof of concept and deployed solutions to the Navy Warfighter. Employee must be able to apply diagnostic techniques to identify problems, investigate causes and recommend solutions to correct common failures while maintaining Navy Cybersecurity compliance. The Systems Administrator will provide support to the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to assist in developing enterprise environments to meet network compliance and organizational needs. Responsibilities Job duties include but are not limited to: 3 Plan, design, test, and configure network devices for afloat and lab environments. 3 Provide inputs and adhere to the Software Release Schedule. 3 Ensure, where possible, that an automated approach is implemented in all aspects of networking. 3 Support an agile and iterative approach to development, test, build, and release. 3 Participate in planning, monitoring, testing, maintaining, and operating multiple operating environments. 3 Recommend improvements to the Development and Test Environment. 3 Ensure the rigorous application of cybersecurity policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of systems. 3 Perform security assessments using DoD provided tools; report results to the cybersecurity system engineer; and develop strategies to mitigate discrepancies. 3 Closely support and interact with the cybersecurity system engineers, system administrators, system engineers, and system developers. 3 Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network related issues encountered by users. 3 Install new system releases and system upgrades. Evaluate and install patches to resolve software related issues and Information Assurance Vulnerabilities (IAVs). 3 Other duties as assigned. Qualifications 3 Three years of professional experience in effective provisioning, installation / configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure in a Linux environment. 3 High School Degree or equivalent required. Bachelors degree preferred. 3 Knowledge of LAN and WAN network operations. 3 Knowledge of Network Protocols including TCP/IP, UDP, and ICMP. 3 Knowledge of network analysis and problem-solving techniques. 3 Ability to conduct risk and vulnerability assessment of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs by using required Navy tools. 3 Ability to assess Defense Information System Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) by applying system scans and addressing security events to determine impact and implementing corrective actions; and/or ensuring the rigorous application of information security / information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of all IT services. 3 Ability to effectively interface with project leads, software technical lead, system engineers, software developers & engineers, test engineers, and other members of the Integrated Product Teams and Working Groups. 3 Advanced knowledge of DoD, DoN, and NAVSEA IT system compliance requirements is preferred. 3 Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts. 3 Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team. Target salary is $76,000/annually to $98,000/annually commensurate with experience Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Physical Demands: 3 Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds 3 Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time 3 Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently have a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
