Diagnoses and resolves z/Series system problems with a focus on extremely high availability. Coordinates outside support resources (vendors) to resolve vendor specific problems in a time-critical environment. Collaborates with other system administrators, systems Programmers, network, and application teams to perform daily activities ranging in complexity and will be responsible for the installation, configuration, upkeep, and reliable operation of the mainframe environment. Installs, tests, and maintains systems software and hardware including operating systems, compilers, utilities, monitoring tools, and network communications components. Evaluate, analyze, diagnose and resolve operating system and program product related issues. Presents statistical utilization and trend analysis, including recommendations to enterprise developers and management. Works with datacenter resources, helps identify CPU reduction opportunities in applications, sub-systems and work with application and system programmers to implement solutions. Reviews, evaluates and makes recommendations on software and hardware changes. Researches system and application problems involving multiple system components and unknown causes, in a time-critical environment. Performs routine and on-call systems programming support and troubleshooting. Performs problem management and resolution for system problems to help application areas, as needed, in troubleshooting, use of tools, information, etc. Completes any other job related duties needed to help drive to our Vision, fulfill our Purpose, and abide by our Organization's Values.
Bachelor's degree in Management, Computer Information Systems or equivalent education and/or experience. Minimum of eight (8) years of Internet-based infrastructure and technology experience. Minimum of 10 years in information technology experience. Strong knowledge of z/OS operating system architecture, installation using SMPE, internals, and recovery scenarios. Networking fundamentals experience, preferably IBM medium to large system mainframes. Thorough knowledge in z/Series, Transaction system products. Strong experience with mainframe automation and monitoring tools. Knowledge and experience with CICS management and administration. Good interpersonal, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills. Able to read and understand complex technical documents and periodicals. Ability to work in a team environment, meet deadlines, and take on a high level of responsibility and accountability. Strong project organizational skills. Provide seven day a week, twenty-four hour a day support. Availability for periodic travel to work-site locations.
