Reporting to the Vice President, Studies and Projects, this role leads the development of projects from early identification through all study phases, ensuring alignment between corporate objectives and regional execution.

The Study Director oversees multidisciplinary study teams and drives the delivery of high-quality technical, economic, and strategic outputs required for investment decision-making. A core responsibility is directing technical studies, trade-off analyses, and project evaluations, ensuring that engineering, operational, and financial inputs are rigorously developed and integrated. The Study Director partners closely with Finance to validate project economics and ensure consistency with corporate standards, while leading the development of business cases, risk assessments, and funding proposals for stage-gate approvals.

The role requires close collaboration with Exploration and Technical Services to support the preparation of Technical Report Summaries in compliance with SK-1300 and NI 43-101 requirements. This includes ensuring that all technical investigations are properly scoped, executed, and aligned with industry best practices. The Study Director will lead cross-functional coordination with operations and regional teams to advance key workstreams, including land access, environmental baseline studies, and socioeconomic assessments, ensuring all site-specific requirements are addressed to support project progression.

Additionally, the Study Director contributes to the development and continuous improvement of company-wide Project and Study Standards, while providing leadership and oversight to Study Managers and study teams to ensure consistent, high-quality execution across the portfolio.

  • Lead and oversee a portfolio of multidisciplinary studies, providing direction to Study Managers and cross-functional teams spanning Exploration, Technical Services, Operations, Projects, Environmental and Finance.
  • Establish and manage the annual budget for the studies portfolio, ensuring alignment with corporate priorities and disciplined cost control.

  • Prepare and present comprehensive study reports for executive review, including assessments of project viability, risk profiles, development pathways, and key trade-offs.
  • Determine resource requirements and assign responsibilities to ensure optimal team performance and accountability.
  • Review and validate technical and commercial deliverables to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment with company standards.
  • Manage study portfolio schedules and budgets, proactively identifying variances and implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Provide regular, structured updates to stakeholders on study status, key decisions, and emerging risks or opportunities.
  • Ensure all employees and contractors deliver work in accordance with SSR Mining Inc. standards, policies, and business practices.

Additional Information:
  • Establish and drive the achievement of medium- and long-term strategic objectives (1-10+ years), ensuring alignment with broader business unit and corporate priorities.
  • Assume full accountability for team performance, delivering results against defined business objectives while fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Lead and develop teams comprised of experienced professionals and managers, typically through layered leadership structures.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement meaningful improvements to processes, methodologies, and ways of working, operating within broad organizational frameworks while adapting to evolving policies.
  • Address complex, ambiguous, and often undefined challenges that require extensive analysis, cross-functional input, and sound judgment to resolve.
  • Manage issues with broad organizational impact, influencing outcomes across multiple teams, functions, or business units.
  • Exercise influence beyond direct reporting lines, driving alignment and adoption of new concepts, practices, and strategic approaches across the organization.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, often through other managers, to deliver integrated outcomes across technical and operational disciplines.
  • Leverage a strong understanding of team capabilities to effectively allocate responsibilities, optimize performance, and support talent development.
