We build the systems that make buying tickets simple, reliable, and accessible - across languages, currencies, and payment preferences. This work sits at the heart of StubHub's business: without a seamless checkout experience, live events don't happen.

Payments is a critical pillar of this mission. Our goal is to ensure that fans around the world can complete a purchase using the payment methods they trust, with high authorization rates and minimal friction - regardless of market-specific complexity. Success in this space directly drives global growth by making StubHub a truly international marketplace.

Location: Hybrid (3 days in office / 2 days remote) - New York, NY or Century City, CA on San Francisco, CA

About the Team:

As Staff Product Manager - Payments, you will be the clear owner of StubHub's checkout and payments experience. You'll focus on improving domestic and international buyer pipeline completion and authorization rates by expanding payment method coverage, orchestrating authorization optimization initiatives, and building adaptable systems that perform across diverse global markets.

This is a senior, hands-on product role designed for someone with deep experience in payments, fintech, or fraud technology. You'll manage and mentor a fellow product manager in the payments space, guiding their priorities and supporting their growth while remaining hands-on in your own work. You'll work closely with engineering, data science, risk, and operations to solve complex approval-rate challenges - balancing global consistency with local optimization and making thoughtful build vs. buy decisions at scale.

If you're excited by the intersection of consumer experience, financial infrastructure, and global systems design, this role offers a rare opportunity to shape the payments foundation that enables live events for millions of fans worldwide.

What You'll Do:

Own Payments Performance
  • Serve as the end-to-end product owner for payments, with accountability for buyer pipeline completion and authorization performance
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities to improve conversion across markets with different payment norms, issuer behaviors, and risk profiles.
  • Define success metrics and drive sustained improvements in checkout reliability and performance.

Expand and Optimize Payment Capabilities
  • Lead integrations with new international payment methods and providers, ensuring scalable, reliable implementations.
  • Make strategic localization vs. global standardization decisions across payment flows, configurations, and experiences.
  • Design and evolve routing strategies, merchant descriptors, and issuer-facing optimizations to improve authorization outcomes.

Build Intelligent, Adaptive Authorization & Risk Systems
  • Partner with engineering and data science to build and evolve adaptable fraud and authorization systems.
  • Orchestrate initiatives across internal models, payment routing, and third-party tools to improve end-to-end performance.
  • Understand how fraud controls, issuer behavior, and payment methods interact across different markets.

Lead Complex, Cross-Functional Execution
  • Work closely with engineering, data science, risk, and operations teams to deliver high-impact initiatives from concept to launch.
  • Partner with accounting, finance, and legal to onboard new payment vendors and renegotiate agreements with existing partners, optimizing costs, terms, and business value.
  • Drive build vs. buy decisions, evaluating vendors and internal capabilities with a focus on speed, scalability, and long-term flexibility.
  • Translate complex payments and fraud challenges into clear product strategy and execution plans.

What You've Done:

  • 8+ years of experience in product management, with significant experience in payments, fintech, fraud technology, or adjacent financial systems.
  • Strong technical and analytical fluency - comfortable working with payments data and complex system flows.
  • Experience integrating with payment methods, processors, and fraud tools, including vendor evaluation and system design.
  • Ability to operate independently in ambiguous problem spaces, setting direction while driving hands-on execution.
  • Systems thinker who understands how checkout experience, authorization logic, and risk controls interact across a global ecosystem.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills, with experience partnering closely with engineering, data science, risk, and operations teams.

What We Offer:

  • Accelerated Growth Environment: An environment designed for swift skill and knowledge enhancement, where you have the autonomy to lead experiments and tests on a massive scale.
  • Top Tier Compensation Package: Competitive base, equity, and upside that tracks with your impact.
  • Flexible Time Off: Enjoy unlimited Flex Time Off, giving you the flexibility to manage your schedule and take time to recharge as needed.
  • Comprehensive Benefits Package: Prioritize your well-being with a comprehensive benefits package, featuring 401k, and premium Health, Vision, and Dental Insurance options.
