PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Software Engineer in Austin, TX
Job Duties: Design, and implement complex, multi-tier distributed software applications. Architect, design and implement new Application Programming Interfaces endpoints to support new software features for PayPal's distributed payments systems. Build applications and optimized features for performance-sensitive systems that serve tens of millions of requests each day. Program and code applications during the design and development phases, utilizing experience programming in Ruby, C++, and Java. Ensure code quality and maintainability by evolving architecture and tech stack, refactoring, standards and improving build and test systems. Test newly implemented applications, identifying and documenting defects and potential risks to escalate with senior management with proposed solutions. Drive architecture discussions, produce well-documented design docs, and participate in design and code reviews. Apply machine-learning algorithmic techniques, design patterns, and best practices when designing automated features. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.
Minimum Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field, plus three years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Experience designing and developing large-scale software applications service using Object-Oriented Design and Java (3 years);
2. Experience with Java and at least one of the following programming languages: Ruby or C++ (2 years);
3. Experience with maintaining code equality using testing tools: TestNG and Postman (2 years);
4. Experience with relational databases, NoSQL databases (2 years);
5. Experience with continuous deployment tools, including Jenkins (1 year);
6. Experience with writing technical design documentation using the following tools: miro, mermaid, or Confluence (1 year);
7. Experience with applying AI/ML techniques in day-to-day development, including Github co-pilot (1 year);
8. Experience with code management system: GitHub (3 years).
Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:
The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:

Austin, TX | Salary: $139,152.00-221,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
