Full Job Description
As Sr. Network Engineer for Routing/Switching, you'll provide expert-level engineering support for mission-critical enterprise networks. This role requires an experienced engineer who can immediately stabilize, optimize, and improve complex routing and switching environments while working collaboratively within an Agile, team-based model.

What you'll do:
  • Work as part of a collaborative, high-performing team supporting mission-critical federal environments
  • Design, implement, and troubleshoot enterprise routing and switching infrastructures
  • Support and operate technologies including BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP, and high-availability architectures
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), capable of independently diagnosing and resolving complex network issues
  • Participate in Agile planning, execution, and continuous improvement activities
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with technical peers, leadership, and stakeholders
  • Proactively identify technical risks and recommend architectural and operational improvements
  • Build and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence through technical expertise and reliability
  • Apply creativity and engineering judgment to deliver innovative, mission-fit network solutions

What you'll need to succeed:
  • Active Top Secret
  • Required technical certifications include CCNP Enterprise or equivalent JNCIS or JNCIP and Security+.
  • Possess DoD 8140 certification aligned to the 441 Network Operations Specialist work role, such as Network+, Security+, Cloud+, SSCP, CASP+, CISSP, or CCNP Security.
  • 10+ years of experience in network engineering with hands-on responsibility for core enterprise routing and switching infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex routing protocols, including BGP and OSPF.
  • Proven experience supporting enterprise switching environments, including VLANs, STP, and related Layer 2 technologies.
  • Experience managing and maintaining high-availability, high-performance network backbones in mission-critical environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco ASR, ISR, Catalyst, and Nexus platforms.
  • Explicit experience performing network traffic analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field is preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for education requirements.
  • Ability to contribute immediately with minimal ramp-up in a mission-critical operational environment.

This position is designated as essential personnel supporting continuity of operations and may require work during government shutdowns, emergencies, or other critical situations.

SALARY RANGE: $207,000 - $320,000

The salary range for this position is determined based on qualifications, skills, and relevant experience. The final salary offered will be determined based on several factors including:
  • The candidate's professional background and relevant work experience
  • The specific responsibilities of the role and organizational needs
  • Internal equity and alignment with current team compensation
  • This role is also eligible for additional compensation, subject to the terms and policies of MetroStar, which may include:
    • Performance-based bonuses
    • Company-paid training and/or certifications
    • Referral bonuses
