Schwab is recruiting a driven, results-oriented Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) Lead who shares our passion for technology, innovation, quality, and engineering excellence. This role will be part of the Digital Utilities Technology organization and will focus on improving software quality, accelerating delivery, and driving engineering efficiency through modern Quality Engineering practices.The ideal candidate is passionate about building scalable automation frameworks, leading enterprise quality initiatives, and partnering closely with engineering teams to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle. This individual will lead technical testing strategy across complex applications and platforms, drive adoption of AI-enabled Quality Engineering practices, and champion AI-assisted development, testing, and agentic workflows that improve test coverage, defect detection, engineering productivity, and release confidence.The successful candidate thrives in a fast-paced Agile environment, embraces continuous improvement, and combines strong technical depth with leadership and mentoring skills. They will influence quality strategy across teams, establish testing standards and best practices, and help scale automation, observability, and engineering excellence across the organization. • Lead and provide accountability for Quality Engineering strategy across enterprise applications and platforms.• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks supporting API, integration, UI, regression, and end-to-end testing.• Drive adoption of AI-enabled Quality Engineering practices to improve test coverage, defect prevention, engineering productivity, and release confidence.• Champion AI-assisted development, test automation, and agentic workflows across the software delivery lifecycle.• Establish testing standards, quality gates, risk-based testing strategies, and release readiness processes.• Partner with Engineering, Architecture, Product, and Business teams to embed quality throughout design, development, testing, and production support activities.• Lead validation efforts for modernization, cloud, resiliency, automation, and platform transformation initiatives.• Drive performance, scalability, resiliency, and reliability testing practices.• Contribute to CI/CD automation, deployment certification, and release governance processes.• Promote engineering best practices by participating in code reviews and supporting quality-first software development practices.• Mentor engineers and quality professionals while fostering a culture of engineering excellence, automation, and continuous improvement.• Maintain and improve tools used for test automation, source control, release management, and quality reporting.• Collaborate effectively with geographically distributed teams and vendor partners to deliver strategic outcomes What you have To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.• 10+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, Software Development, or related disciplines.• 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-scale automation frameworks.• Strong experience with API, integration, system, regression, and end-to-end testing, and current working experience with Schwab systems and processes.• Strong experience implementing automation using Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, SpecFlow, Cucumber, RestAssured, or similar technologies.• Strong experience with Behavior Driven Development (BDD) methodologies and frameworks.• Experience automating build validation, deployment certification, release readiness, and CI/CD testing processes.• Hands-on experience with GitHub and modern DevOps workflows.• Strong understanding of quality engineering practices including risk-based testing, exploratory testing, regression testing, and system testing.• Experience with performance and scalability testing tools such as JMeter or similar technologies.• Strong technical competency in an OOP language such as C# or Java.• Experience with SQL, Mongo and database validation techniques.• Experience participating in complex end-to-end testing involving multiple applications, integrations, and business processes.• Experience evaluating or adopting AI/GenAI capabilities to improve software quality, engineering productivity, or operational efficiency.• Strong communication, collaboration, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills.• Experience working effectively within geographically distributed teams• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical solutions.• Designs advanced support processes and mentors peers to optimize functionality and security.• Establishes robust processes to create, secure, and monitor data pipelines and stores.• Designs efficient processes to resolve incidents and minimize downtime.• Develops QA processes that confirm compliance and ensure operational reliability.• Streamlines requirement analysis and validation for enhanced efficiency.• Designs security processes to enhance security and regulatory compliance.• Enhances processes that merge predictive and adaptive software design techniques.• Designs efficient processes that ensure quality and resolve issues in software components. • Optimizes processes for secure, compliant, and reliable software releases.• Optimizes design processes by integrating predictive or adaptive methods with cloud principles.
