Full Job Description
The Senior Director, Sales Compliance provides strategic leadership and day-to-day oversight of the Sales Compliance program across carrier, retail, digital, and telemarketing channels. Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, this role translates federal and state consumer protection requirements and partner contractual obligations into practical, sales-enabling guidance. The leader will mature policies, procedures, monitoring, and training to ensure compliant sales and enrollment practices while enabling business growth. This is a senior, salary-based position requiring exceptional cross-functional influence, executive communication, and demonstrated expertise with FTC regulations and the Telemarketing Sales Rule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, develop, and manage the Sales Compliance team, setting strategic priorities, performance goals, and professional development plans.
  • Build and mature the sales compliance program, including policies, procedures, monitoring, testing, and corrective action frameworks.
  • Report program performance and emerging risks to the Chief Compliance Officer.
  • Ensure compliance with FTC regulations, including the Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR) and FTC Act Section 5, and related consumer protection requirements for sales, marketing, disclosures, and enrollment practices.
  • Continuously monitor regulatory developments and assess impacts on sales channels, scripts, disclosures, and enrollment flows.
  • Oversee compliance reviews of sales scripts, offer terms and customer disclosures.
  • Manage inquiries, examinations, and partner audits related to sales practices in coordination with Legal.
  • Partner with business teams on new product launches, channel expansions, and promotional campaigns to embed compliance by design.
  • Collaborate with carrier and retail partners' legal teams to meet contractual compliance obligations and respond to partner-driven requirements.
  • Advise sales operations on complaint trends, root-cause analysis, and remediation of sales-practice issues.
  • Oversee sales compliance monitoring and testing programs, including call monitoring, mystery shopping, and channel audits.
  • Direct the development and delivery of sales compliance training for internal teams and third-party sellers.
  • Establish KPIs and dashboards to measure program effectiveness; escalate significant findings with recommended corrective actions.

Education and Experience
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) preferred or Bachelor's Degree & Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) certification with 5+ years of direct sales compliance experience.
  • 7+ years of progressive compliance, legal, or regulatory experience, including 5+ years focused on sales, marketing, or consumer protection compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience with FTC regulations and the Telemarketing Sales Rule applicable to telemarketing functions.
  • Track record of cross-functional partnership with sales, customer care, product, and legal leadership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level reporting.
  • Ability to work on-site or hybrid from Washington, DC or Nashville, TN, with periodic travel as needed.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with state telemarketing laws, TCPA, UDAP/UDAAP standards, and state insurance producer/licensing requirements applicable to device protection products.
