Full Job Description
What you'll be doing

Our Quality Engineering team helps deliver reliable, accessible, and high-performing digital experiences across retail banking. As a Quality Engineering Analyst, you'll support the delivery of testing services for key initiatives spanning mobile, web, application programming interface (API), user experience, and accessibility testing. You'll plan and execute testing activities, manage defects and compliance requirements, and provide informed input on technical designs to strengthen quality outcomes. You'll also help advance our testing practices by identifying opportunities to improve processes, adopt automation, and use emerging tools that increase efficiency and consistency. Working closely with project managers, business analysts, developers, and other partners, you'll help ensure solutions are delivered with quality at the forefront.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 1-2 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you'll succeed
  • Test planning and execution - Develop, publish, and execute test plans, test cases, traceability matrices, automation scripts, and status, defect, and exit reports. Identify the test data and environments needed to support effective and timely testing across assigned initiatives.
  • Quality delivery and reporting - Prepare testing estimates, support the management of testing-related financials, and track key quality assurance and quality engineering metrics such as velocity and defect slippage. Provide clear reporting that helps teams understand progress, risks, and outcomes.
  • Defect and compliance management - Manage defects through the full lifecycle, ensuring issues are documented, prioritized, and resolved in a timely manner. Identify non-compliance items and deviations, support remediation efforts, and help maintain adherence to quality standards.
  • Technical input and continuous improvement - Review technical designs, provide feedback, and assess impacts to testing approaches and coverage. Identify opportunities to improve quality through automation, artificial intelligence tools, test virtualization, and enhancements to processes, policies, or tools.
  • Collaboration and leadership - Partner with project managers, business analysts, developers, vendors, and quality engineering peers to coordinate testing activities and share best practices. Contribute to stronger team performance by helping drive consistent quality standards and recommending changes that improve operational effectiveness.

Who you are
  • You have relevant quality engineering experience. You bring 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance, quality engineering, or software testing, with hands-on involvement in delivering testing services for complex technology initiatives.
  • You have strong technical testing skills. You have experience with Representational State Transfer (REST) API testing, pytest, Robot Framework, Appium, and Selenium. You also bring familiarity with API testing and service virtualization tools such as Parasoft.
  • You're confident with modern delivery tools. You have experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence, and other Agile, development, and quality engineering platforms. Exposure to continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, including Jenkins or GitHub Actions, is an asset.
  • You embrace innovation. You use tools such as GitHub Copilot and other generative artificial intelligence solutions thoughtfully to improve efficiency, strengthen test practices, and support better quality outcomes.
  • You're a strong communicator and problem solver. You communicate clearly with technical and non-technical partners, apply sound judgment, and look for opportunities to improve processes, tools, and ways of working.
  • You can lead through influence. You have the ability to guide teams, support performance, and drive quality outcomes by collaborating effectively and contributing technical and process leadership.
  • Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work, and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability.
