Summary:

Energy Transfer is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Crude accounting team in Houston, Texas. We encourage a culture of inquiry by always asking why, transforming data into meaningful information, and leveraging technology to streamline our processes

Our Crude Accounting team is looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented professional to support the Crude Oil Acquisition and Marketing business. This role is responsible for crude oil volume actualization, inventory reconciliations, payments of transportation expenses and analytical reporting. The position also supports settlements with customers, monitors and reconciles General Ledger accounts, and performs analysis to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial and operational reporting.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, a commitment to process improvement, and the ability to collaborate effectively across operational, commercial, and accounting teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
  • Participate in the monthly close process and be involved in post close activities including actualizing crude oil volumes for pipeline/terminal locations and reconciling volumes to supporting statements.
  • Process and submit transportation payments related to pipeline and terminal activities.
  • Settle with external customers our monthly receivable and payables. Monitor our vendor and customer balances in SAP
  • Work cross-functionally with Scheduling, Trading, other crude accounting teams and Pipeline groups to ensure our team goals and objectives are achieved
  • Coordinate and address requests from corporate (internal and external) and 3rd party Customer, internal and external audits etc.
  • Maintain documentation and evidence of controls performed to ensure SOX compliance
  • Initiate and implement system upgrade as needed (RightAngle)
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and operational efficiency through automation and system enhancements.

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting is required
Experience: 5-8 years

Required Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. General knowledge of Marketing Transactions

Technical Skills: Experience with Power BI, Alteryx, or Robotic Process Automation tools is a plus

Preferred qualifications: Experience with Rightangle and SAP

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:
  • The Associate Analyst level requires a bachelor's degree and 0-2 years of relevant job-related experience
  • The Analyst level requires a bachelor's degree and 2-5 years of relevant job-related experience
  • The Senior Analyst level requires a bachelor's degree and 5-8 years of relevant job-related experience

    Working Conditions

  • Usually, normal office working conditions
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing
