Software Developer - Back-End (2-5 years of experience)

About the job

As aSoftware Developer on the SAS EVAAS (Education Visualization and Analytics System) team, you will help develop a web application used by educators to uncover insights from the data our tools provide. You will have the opportunity to contribute across the full design and development lifecycle, from early concepts through delivery and ongoing improvement.

As a Software Developer, you will:

• Utilize your Java and SQL skills to write reliable, well-tested backend code that supports meaningful education insights.
• Design backend systems and processes that deliver the EVAAS web application to educators in a scalable and repeatable fashion.
• Work with the team from design through implementation to evolve the EVAAS web application and supporting backend systems.

Required qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related quantitative field with 2-5 years of professional full-time experience.
• At least 2 years of experience with:
  • Java programming
  • Developing and delivering Web-based applications
  • Relational databases
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills

• Location:Cary HQ, hybrid (minimum of 3 days in the office per week)

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with the following:
  • Spring Framework
  • Maven and the Project Object Model (POM)
  • Various static or interactive code scanning tools
  • Documenting decisions, processes, and code
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Git and GitHub
