Senior Software Developer
Position Overview

We are building the Autodesk Assistant, a next generation AI platform that powers conversational experiences across Autodesk products and customer touchpoints. This platform enables intelligent, unified interactions while providing a scalable framework that supports multiple AI assistants and services.

We are looking for a Senior Software Developer to help build the backend platform that powers these experiences. In this role, you will design and develop REST APIs, implement a flexible plugin architecture that enables AI assistants to integrate with the platform, and build scalable, secure services. You will collaborate closely with architects, product managers, developers, and DevOps teams to deliver a unified AI experience for millions of Autodesk users.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain software components that meet business, quality, and operational requirements.
  • Build high quality, maintainable code using unit testing and test driven development practices.
  • Design and implement scalable REST APIs and backend services.
  • Develop a plugin architecture that enables AI assistants and services to integrate with the platform.
  • Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions while mentoring team members on engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, support, and cross functional teams to resolve technical challenges.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and provide accurate effort estimates.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and engineering processes that improve quality, performance, and developer productivity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex application and code level issues efficiently.
  • Design solutions with scalability, security, reliability, and availability as core principles.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+ years of experience building scalable, customer facing web applications and distributed systems.
  • 2+ years of experience developing applications using Python and Java based web frameworks.
  • 2+ years of experience with automated testing frameworks such as Selenium, Jasmine, Cucumber, or similar tools.
  • Experience deploying applications on AWS or other cloud platforms.
  • Experience working with backend data stores such as DynamoDB, Aurora, or similar databases.
  • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and working with JSON and XML.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing and implementing highly scalable, highly available distributed systems.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals with a focus on writing clean, maintainable, and testable code.
  • Proficiency in Java, Python, or Go.
  • Solid understanding of full stack development methodologies and modern software architecture.
  • Experience building AI powered applications, LLM integrations, or agent based systems is a plus.
  • Passion for learning new technologies and applying them to solve complex business problems.


Salary transparency
Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For Canada based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $107,000 and $157,300. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
