Our Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Senior Scientist for our Chemical Regulation & Food Safety Practice in the Washington, DC office. In this role you will work as part of a team to provide a high level of project management, FIFRA regulatory and technical assistance, and program support to the consultants in the Center for Chemical Regulation and Food Safety.
You will be responsible for
- Managing and tracking client projects, project deliverables and budgets
- Collaborating with internal project teams to discuss client projects, tasks, deliverables, and budgets
- Interacting with clients as well as EPA and State regulators
- Build upon your understanding of chemical regulatory policies, including TSCA, and apply regulatory insights to complex client challenges
- Demonstrated experience supporting product stewardship initiatives and applying product stewardship concepts to real-world industry challenges
- Preparing and submitting regulatory approval documents
- Providing regulatory and technical review and quality control support for TSCA and product stewardship projects
You will have the following skills and qualifications
- B.S. degree is required. M.S. or Ph.D. in a Science related field is preferred.
- Experience with TSCA and other environmental regulations
- Three (3) years of consulting or government regulatory experience
- Must be detail oriented, able to work independently, and manage time effectively
- Excellent communication, writing, editing and proofreading skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
- Strong ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines
- Experience using AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, with an understanding of their capabilities, limitations, and appropriate applications.
- Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat required
- Exposure to sensitive information will necessitate considerable use of tact, diplomacy, discretion, and judgment
- Experience with project management, budget tracking, and invoicing a plus
- Strong commitment to professional development
- Entrepreneurial spirit is a plus

Compensation
Our consultants are rewarded for their technical and business contributions and have an opportunity to plan for future success and career growth. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Associate and Senior Associate level, total compensation includes base salary, bi-weekly bonuses for high-intensity efforts, annual bonus and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.
The base salary range for this position is dependent on experience and capabilities which will be assessed during the interview process.
Salary RangeUSD $113,000.00 - USD $138,000.00 /Yr.
