Full Job Description
About the Team
We're building out a best-in-class Digital Science team to leverage innovative digital technology, apply user centric design and use science to improve participation in clinical research, collect novel and/or better data, apply advanced analytics to inform more robust evidence, and support both patients and their healthcare providers towards better care and improved outcomes.

About the Role

As a Senior Scientist, you'll turn unmet patient and clinical needs into innovative digital solutions that help patients, care partners and healthcare professionals capture, understand and act on health information throughout a clinical trial.

You'll work at the forefront of digital health innovation, developing remote patient monitoring (RPM) solutions and other digital tools spanning symptom and toxicity monitoring, wearables and sensors, medication tracking, and intelligent alerting and escalation. You'll help take solutions from early concept and scientific design through validation and real-world implementation in clinical studies.

Working alongside experts across Digital Science, Product, Design, Data Science and clinical study teams, you'll have the opportunity to influence how digital technologies are used across therapeutic areas including oncology, cardiovascular, renal and metabolism, and respiratory and immunology, ultimately helping make clinical trials more connected, patient-centric and effective.

What You'll Do

1. Opportunity Scoping and Concept Definition
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities for new digital solutions, including remote patient monitoring (RPM), dosing diaries, wearables and other patient- and HCP-facing tools.
  • Define the intended use, target population, decision context and value proposition for new solutions.
  • Evaluate existing instruments, devices and sensors before recommending new development.

2. Instrument, Algorithm and Functionality Development
  • Lead the scientific design of digital measures and functionality, including assessments, scoring algorithms, thresholds, alerts and escalation pathways.
  • Translate scientific requirements into clear specifications for Product, Design and Engineering.
  • Review and test solutions throughout development to ensure they deliver on their scientific intent.

3. Clinical Validity and User-Centred Design
  • Bring the needs and behaviours of patients, caregivers and HCPs into the design of digital solutions.
  • Partner with Design to create intuitive, accessible experiences for diverse populations, including older, unwell and digitally less confident users.
  • Ensure solutions support reliable data collection while minimizing participant burden.

4. Evidence Generation and Data Collection Methodology
  • Design qualitative and quantitative research to establish content validity, usability and fitness for purpose.
  • Develop data collection approaches that respect participant privacy and generate meaningful, actionable insights.
  • Ensure analytical and reporting approaches align with relevant regulatory expectations.

5. In-Trial Implementation and Deployment Support
  • Support the implementation and deployment of digital solutions within clinical trials, including clinical documentation and training materials.
  • Provide ongoing scientific oversight and help resolve data collection, algorithm and usability challenges.
  • Serve as a Digital Science partner to clinical study teams throughout trial delivery.

6. Engagement, Adherence and Behavioural Insight
  • Develop strategies to improve patient, caregiver and HCP engagement, including reminders, personalized feedback and notification design.
  • Apply behavioural science principles to encourage consistent reporting and adherence to treatment and study procedures.
  • Develop content that helps participants confidently use digital tools, medications and self-administered devices.

7. Evaluation, Iteration and Documentation
  • Partner with Data Science and Analytics to define KPIs and evaluate engagement, compliance, data quality and clinical utility.
  • Use insights from live solutions to continuously improve digital features and experiences.
  • Develop scientific and regulatory documentation and represent the scientific rationale for solutions with study teams, governance groups, sponsors and health authorities
