What is the opportunity?

RBC's Functions Technology Strategic Programs is responsible for supporting delivery of transformative large-scale AI and automation initiatives while driving operational excellence through strategic program governance and intelligent business solutions.

We are seeking a talented Project Manager to bridge business strategy and technical execution, managing mid-sized AI initiatives while developing expertise in emerging technologies and enterprise program governance.

What will you do?
  • Program & Project Governance: Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and budgetary forecasts; establish governance structures and decision-making protocols; ensure compliance with RBC's project governance standards and SDLC requirements; coordinate with the PMO on governance reviews and executive communications
  • Project Financial Management: Develop and manage project budgets; track project spend against forecasts; generate financial reports and variance analysis for stakeholder communication; identify cost optimization opportunities and ensure financial controls are maintained; support investment approvals and funding allocation decisions; monitor resource costs and ensure efficient use of budget dollars
  • AI Capability Assessment & Translation: Work with technical and business teams to identify, evaluate, and document AI use cases; translate AI capabilities and technical requirements into business-friendly documentation; assess implementation challenges (data quality, model performance, integration complexity, change management); maintain current knowledge of AI/ML trends relevant to financial services
  • Requirements & Business Analysis: Conduct requirements gathering with business stakeholders to translate business needs into project scope; develop business cases and ROI analyses for AI initiatives; create process mapping and impact assessments for proposed solutions; document lessons learned to build organizational knowledge
  • Project Monitoring & Risk Management: Track project health metrics, risks, and dependencies; provide regular status reporting to leadership; utilize project management platforms for real-time performance tracking; identify and escalate risks, dependencies, and critical path items early
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Manage stakeholder expectations and serve as a communication hub between business, technology, and executive teams; facilitate steering committee meetings; communicate complex AI concepts and project status to diverse audiences; ensure alignment on project objectives and deliverables


What do you need to succeed?

Must-have
  • 7+ years of project management experience in technology, software development, or digital transformation initiatives
  • Working knowledge of AI/ML concepts (supervised/unsupervised learning, model deployment, common algorithms) and ability to discuss intelligently with technical teams
  • Experience with governance frameworks and compliance in regulated environments (financial services experience strongly preferred)
  • Strong business analysis capabilities: requirements definition, process documentation, and scope management
  • Proficiency with project management tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent)
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) - ability to translate between technical and non-technical audiences
  • Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong MS Office skills - Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with project financial management, budget tracking, and financial reporting


Nice-to-have
  • PMP, CAPM, or Agile certification (Scrum Master, Product Owner)
  • Previous experience with AI/ML projects or data science initiatives
  • Familiarity with RBC systems, banking operations, or Functions Technology domains
  • Experience in enterprise architecture or technology strategy initiatives
  • Proficiency in SQL or Python
  • Background in business process improvement or operational transformation
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools such as Confluence, Jira, or similar platforms
  • Experience with financial management tools and cost accounting systems
