The Role

The Senior Manager, Programmatic & Affiliate Marketing sits within the Media & Performance Marketing Centre of Excellence and is accountable for the strategy, execution, performance, and evolution of Programmatic and Affiliate marketing across Canadian Banking and Non-Retail business lines.

This role provides leadership over channel investment, audience strategy, platform activation, partner management, measurement, and innovation, ensuring both Programmatic and Affiliate marketing deliver business growth and operational excellence. While supported by channel specialists responsible for day-to-day campaign management, the Senior Manager maintains direct ownership and accountability for campaign execution, requiring deep hands-on expertise across key programmatic buying platforms and affiliate marketing ecosystems.

The Senior Manager serves as the primary relationship owner for Scotiabank's affiliate marketing partner, Fintel Connect, leading strategic planning, performance management, innovation discussions, and roadmap development to maximize the effectiveness and growth of the affiliate channel.

As media platforms continue to evolve through AI, automation, and advanced measurement capabilities, this role will play a critical part in identifying opportunities to improve performance, streamline execution, and scale successful innovations across the portfolio.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

Programmatic & Affiliate Channel Leadership
  • Own the strategic direction, governance, execution, and performance of Programmatic and Affiliate marketing across Canadian Banking and Non-Retail portfolios.
  • Accountable for channel performance, investment optimization, operational excellence, and delivery against business objectives.
  • Establish channel best practices, testing roadmaps, governance frameworks, and scalable operating models.
  • Partner closely with business line stakeholders to identify growth opportunities and ensure channel strategies align with broader marketing objectives.

Programmatic Execution & Optimization Leadership
  • Maintain deep hands-on expertise across key programmatic buying platforms including DV360, Amazon DSP, and emerging platforms.
  • Provide direct oversight and guidance on campaign architecture, audience strategy, bidding approaches, inventory selection, optimization frameworks, and measurement methodologies.
  • Lead and coach Programmatic team members responsible for campaign execution while remaining actively involved in platform decisions and performance troubleshooting.
  • Review campaign configurations, optimization strategies, audience segmentation, and testing plans to ensure execution aligns with business objectives and platform best practices.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for campaign performance issues, identifying opportunities related to audience strategy, bidding, inventory quality, creative effectiveness, measurement, or platform setup.

Affiliate Partnership & Growth Leadership
  • Serve as the primary business owner and strategic relationship lead for Fintel Connect.
  • Lead quarterly business reviews, performance planning, growth initiatives, partner negotiations, and innovation discussions.
  • Collaborate with Fintel Connect to identify new publisher opportunities, audience strategies, promotional tactics, and channel expansion opportunities.
  • Establish performance expectations, measurement frameworks, and optimization plans to drive affiliate channel growth.
  • Monitor affiliate ecosystem trends and identify opportunities to enhance Scotiabank's affiliate strategy through new partners, placements, technologies, and capabilities.

Team Leadership & Future-State Innovation
  • Lead and develop programmatic and affiliate specialists while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, testing, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive adoption of AI-enabled capabilities, automation opportunities, and advanced optimization strategies across Programmatic marketing where they can improve performance and operational efficiency.
  • Champion experimentation across audience strategies, bidding approaches, inventory sources, creative formats, and measurement methodologies.
  • Balance automation with expert human oversight to ensure business outcomes, governance requirements, and performance objectives are achieved.

Performance Reporting & Insights
  • Own Programmatic and Affiliate channel reporting, performance analysis, and executive-level insights across Canadian Banking and Non-Retail portfolios.
  • Establish channel measurement frameworks, KPIs, and reporting standards that enable consistent performance evaluation and optimization.
  • Translate campaign, audience, publisher, and partner performance data into actionable recommendations that inform investment decisions, channel strategy, and business planning.
  • Lead recurring business reviews with key stakeholders, providing clear insights on performance drivers, opportunities, risks, and optimization actions.
  • Partner with Marketing Analytics and Measurement teams to enhance reporting capabilities, attribution methodologies, and channel performance visibility.
  • Develop executive-ready reporting and storytelling that connects channel performance to broader business outcomes, including acquisition, engagement, efficiency, and customer value.
  • Leverage insights from Programmatic and Affiliate performance to identify emerging trends, inform future testing priorities, and drive continuous improvement across the portfolio.
