Full Job Description
A career as a Senior Director, International Trade within the International Trade team at National Bank means acting as a strategic leader in international business development. You play a key role in revenue growth, expanding our presence among Canadian companies operating globally, and promoting the Bank's expertise in international trade solutions.

You combine deep knowledge of international trade products with strong leadership capabilities to support a team of specialists, grow the market, and deliver value to business clients. Your influence with internal and external partners directly contributes to achieving the Bank's growth objectives.

Your Role:
  • Lead, engage, and develop a team of International Trade specialists by fostering a culture of performance, collaboration, and client excellence.
  • Define and execute business development strategies to increase the Bank's presence among companies with international trade needs.
  • Identify, develop, and close business opportunities related to international trade solutions, including documentary letters of credit, standby letters of credit and guarantees, supply chain financing, and government-backed guarantee programs.
  • Support Relationship Managers in identifying clients' international trade needs and structuring tailored solutions.
  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with clients, partners, and key market influencers to strengthen the Bank's positioning.
  • Ensure disciplined risk management, compliance, and execution quality while continuously optimizing team processes, tools, and best practices.
  • Contribute to business planning and monitor performance, profitability, and the achievement of sector objectives.
  • Serve as a senior subject matter expert in international trade by staying current on market trends, regulatory developments, and industry best practices.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in a related discipline and 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Significant experience in international trade and serving business banking clients.
  • Strong expertise in international trade solutions, including documentary letters of credit, guarantees, supply chain financing, and government-backed guarantee programs.
  • Solid understanding of international trade regulations, business practices, and global market dynamics.
  • Proven track record in business development, negotiation, and strategic relationship management.
  • Previous leadership and people management experience within a financial services or commercial banking environment.

English, French
