Role OverviewCboe is seeking a Senior Counsel to assist the Legal Department in providing legal and regulatory support to the U.S. Equities, Market Data and Access, and Exchange Traded Product ("ETP") Listings businesses. As Senior Counsel, you will review and draft rules and rule filings to applicable regulators, for each of these businesses, as well as respond to other general legal matters including those related to securities trading. The successful candidate will need to be a motivated self-starter, willing to take initiative as well as collaborate with more senior attorneys and incorporate their guidance and feedback into their day-to-day responsibilities. As an operator of exchanges and other trading venues, Cboe operates in a highly regulated environment and compliance by Cboe with its legal and regulatory obligations is paramount in the conduct of its business. In addition, because Cboe operates in a highly competitive and regulated environment, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate a willingness and capability to learn the various regulatory frameworks that apply to Cboe and how to navigate them.
Your responsibilities will be:- Review and draft rules and rule filings to applicable regulators to explain the purpose and basis of those rules.
- Responsible for steering any rule changes through internal corporate and external regulators' review & approval processes
- In conjunction with more senior attorneys, partner with the U.S. Equities, Market Data and Access, and ETP Listings business teams to drive growth by providing legal counsel and innovative thinking.
- Keep apprised of new and existing regulations and business initiatives, and work with senior legal leaders to provide legal and regulatory advice to the applicable businesses.
- Provide legal support for functions relating to compliance with the requirements applicable to national securities exchanges, including exchange membership, and services and products offered by Cboe's U.S. equities exchanges.
- Provide legal guidance relating to regulatory requests, exams, inspections, and/or similar matters involving Cboe's U.S. equities exchanges.
- In addition to the Equities, ETP Listings, and Market Data and Access business, provide legal support to other functions across Cboe, including but not limited to, Compliance, Regulatory, Technology, Operations, Risk, Market Policy & Government Affairs, Billing, and Finance.
- Maintain high standards of legal and regulatory compliance and promote a culture of compliance, by among other things, helping ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements of operating a national securities exchange.
- Respond to other general legal matters including those related to securities trading and corporate law issues.
- Review regulatory and informational publications.
- Other legal support for company activities.
- Help drive the adoption of AI, automation, and improved workflows across Legal, partnering with teams to modernize core processes, strengthen controls, improve efficiency, and enhance program scalability.
- Help build the team's capabilities and support leaders in adopting new tools and technology, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and responsible use of emerging capabilities.
The ideal candidate has- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience, preferably at a law firm, at other financial services firms or financial market regulators.
- Strong legal writing and analytical skills, and experience in drafting regulatory filings.
- A working knowledge of fundamental equities market structure terminology and how on-exchange equities trading is conducted, as well as a willingness to develop a deeper understanding of these areas and how to navigate the applicable legal and regulatory frameworks.
- A basic understanding of market data and access solutions, and ETPs, and/or a willingness to develop a fundamental understanding of these businesses, and the related legal frameworks applicable to these areas and how to navigate them.
- A self-stater attitude and comfort working independently towards completing assigned tasks, as well as under the supervision of more senior attorneys.
- A high-motivated attitude, attention to detail, and the ability to proactively organize a heavy workload and demonstrate excellent analytical abilities.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally across the businesses, technology and operations, compliance, and regulatory, as well as with other legal team members.
- Experience interacting with regulators, or a strong desire to develop skills in this area under the direction of more senior attorneys.
- Proficiency in the use of AI to streamline legal tasks such as summarizing industry rule proposals, comment letters, and regulatory rules, laws, and regulations.
Education/Licenses:- Bachelor's Degree and Juris Doctorate
- Licensed to practice law.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Salary Ranges (applicable for US locations only)At Cboe, we are committed to providing a competitive, transparent, and market-informed total rewards program. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $172,975-$254,375, with actual compensation determined by job-related factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, internal alignment, and location.
This role may also be eligible for annual incentive compensation and, where applicable, participation in Cboe's long-term equity programs.
