About The Team: Our Regulatory team provides essential guidance to TikTok and its family of products, ensuring that our innovation is matched with compliance, responsibility, and foresight. We empower the business by navigating complex regulatory landscapes, shaping strategies that allow our teams to achieve their boldest ambitions while meeting evolving legal and policy expectations. The Regulatory team is responsible for managing regulatory matters, including advising on new and existing frameworks, engaging with regulators, and ensuring proactive alignment with fast-changing laws across the globe. We are seeking an exceptional regulatory lawyer to serve as Regulatory Lead for North America, leading regulatory legal strategy and execution across the region. This role offers the opportunity to shape TikTok's approach to complex and high-profile regulatory issues in the United States and Canada, partnering closely with cross-functional leaders to manage risk, ensure compliance, and advance responsible innovation in a dynamic and highly scrutinized environment. This role reports into the Global Head of Regulatory. Responsibilities: - Develop and lead TikTok's North American regulatory legal strategy, aligning legal guidance with business objectives and evolving regulatory requirements across the region. - Advise senior executives and business leaders on high-stakes North American regulatory issues, providing clear, actionable, and risk-aware guidance. - Serve as the primary Regulatory lead for North America, reporting into the Head of Regulatory and helping translate global regulatory priorities into regional strategies and execution plans. - Build, manage, and develop a high-performing regional team of regulatory lawyers and professionals, fostering collaboration, professional growth, and operational excellence. - Oversee engagement with regulators and government agencies in North America, ensuring TikTok's positions are effectively communicated and aligned with legal obligations. - Monitor, assess, and anticipate emerging laws and regulations across North America, translating complex requirements into practical business strategies. - Partner with cross-functional stakeholders, including Public Policy, Compliance, Trust & Safety, Product, Privacy, and Security teams, to ensure proactive and coordinated approaches to regulatory matters. - Lead legal input into North American regulatory investigations, inquiries, and examinations, balancing compliance with business priorities. - Drive the development of scalable processes, policies, and training to support consistent and efficient regulatory compliance across the region. - Serve as a thought leader within the Legal organization, helping to shape TikTok's approach to operating responsibly in a complex North American regulatory environment.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: - Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school with a strong academic record. - Significant experience advising on regulatory matters in North America, with deep knowledge of U.S. and Canadian regulatory frameworks relevant to technology platforms, digital services, and consumer-facing products. - Experience engaging with government regulators, lawmakers, and industry bodies in North America. - Strong ability to align regulatory compliance with business strategy and skilled at identifying and mitigating regulatory risk across complex regional markets. - Skilled in managing regulatory investigations, enforcement actions, inquiries, and high-stakes crises. - Successful in driving cross-functional adoption of new policies, processes, or compliance requirements. - Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing teams and influencing senior stakeholders in a fast-paced, matrixed environment. Preferred Qualifications: - Proven ability to embed regulatory readiness into product development, go-to-market, and operations processes. - Experience advising on regulatory issues related to data privacy, AI, competition/antitrust, platform governance, content moderation, consumer protection, or online safety. - Experience operating in a global legal or regulatory organization and partnering effectively with global leaders while owning regional execution. - Prior in-house experience at a technology platform, consumer internet company, or similarly complex and highly regulated business. - Technical literacy in AI systems, including ML models, generative AI, algorithmic decision-making, and emerging AI governance frameworks.

[For Pay Transparency]Compensation Description (Annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $250800 - $600000 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
