The team:

Scotiabank's Global Corporate Functions (GCF), organization is rooted in understanding our Scotiabank business lines and technologies and collaborating with our global CIOs and business lines to deliver high quality, reliable enterprise solutions in an agile and cost-effective manner while complying to the bank's security standards and policies.

The role:

  • As part of the technology support team for the Bank's Real Estate Department, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of web-based applications and application support.
  • Potential projects will range in scope from improving existing applications and processes to creating entirely new systems as required.
  • Working in a collaborative activity-based work setting, the role also carries the responsibility of ensuring clients' needs are met by providing application support and training functions.
  • You can expect to be in a hybrid work model with a blend of days working from home & days working onsite in downtown Toronto.

  • You are eager to expand on your existing technology background by being able to work with leading edge technologies to incorporate complex application solutions, as well as work with other technology teams to contribute to an overall solution.
  • You thrive on being hands-on during mid to complex project deployments into production. This will include the support of assigned systems by acting as an internal consultant on assigned infrastructure and providing suggestions for viable solutions to systems problems of high complexity.
  • You want to be challenged with complex problem solving in time sensitive situations to reduce system downtime and user impact.
  • You are highly motivated to stay current with software development tools and software applications.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • You have at least 3+ years of hands-on technical working experience with using C# and VB.NET for the development of applications.
  • You can demonstrate hands-on technical working experience in the use of LINQ (Language Integrated Query) in .NET.
  • You have at least 3+ years of hands-on technical working experience to read & write complex SQL queries.
  • You have at least 3+ years of hands-on technical working experience with database management of MS SQL Server by creating/modifying database tables/functions & by performing stored procedures.
  • You have at least 3+ years of hands-on technical working experience with Visual Studio Integrated Development Environment (IDE) & Azure DevOps Server (formerly Team Foundation Server - TFS).
  • You also possess a strong foundation of knowledge on the software development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering or in a related technology field.
  • You can demonstrate strong communication (verbal/written) skills in English. Furthermore, you have good interpersonal skills to build relationships with users and deliver guidance, training and instruction.
  • You possess superior problem solving and decision-making skills to resolve technology issues with the ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
