Position Summary

The Production Supervisor - Prep-to-Ship is responsible for the direct supervision and daily coordination of crews responsible for the final stages of production, ensuring panels and finished products are correctly prepped, staged, inspected, and shipped accurately and on time. This role serves as the critical link between the production team and leadership, driving tactical execution while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Crew Leadership & Coordination
  • Direct and oversee daily activities of prep-to-ship crews to ensure accurate, high-quality, and on-time shipment of finished products
  • Serve as the single point of contact for tactical coordination of all hourly workers in the prep-to-ship area
  • Assign tasks based on skill set and workload to optimize productivity and throughput
  • Develop and implement daily work plans aligned with shipping schedules, adjusting as needed to accommodate changes, rush orders, or unforeseen challenges
  • Coordinate with scheduling, logistics, and warehouse teams to ensure shipment readiness and on-time departure
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement among crew members

Shipping Accuracy & Quality Assurance
  • Enforce prep-to-ship quality control standards ensuring all products are correctly labeled, packaged, staged, and documented prior to shipment
  • Verify outbound orders for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with customer specifications and shipping requirements
  • Identify and address quality or packing issues promptly to prevent errors, returns, or customer complaints
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to implement corrective actions and drive continuous improvement

Safety
  • Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing company safety policies and procedures with particular attention to material handling, loading dock, and staging area operations
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks to reinforce safe work practices
  • Immediately address unsafe conditions or behaviors and take corrective action as necessary

Training & Development
  • Provide hands-on training and coaching to prep-to-ship crew members to develop skills and improve overall performance
  • Mentor less experienced workers and foster a culture of learning and professional growth
  • Ensure all crew members are trained on proper use of tools, equipment, shipping systems, and safety procedures

Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a manufacturing, assembly, or shipping and logistics environment
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team of hourly workers
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and direct work activities to meet production and shipping goals
  • Solid understanding of quality control principles, shipping accuracy, and safety standards
  • Hands-on experience with assembly and shipping prep processes, preferably in a steel or heavy manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with shipping documentation, order verification, and outbound logistics coordination
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, technical specifications, and shipping orders
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical, trade, or logistics certifications are a plus
