Prinicipal Chief Data Architect is responsible for defining and governing the enterprise data architecture strategy, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric as core components of the data platform ecosystem. This role ensures data architecture enables scalable analytics, AI, customer insight, and regulatory compliance while driving modernization and long-term value realization. The role operates as a trusted technical and strategic partner to executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities Enterprise Data Strategy & Architecture - Define and own the enterprise data architecture vision, principles, and target-state roadmap aligned to business strategy.
- Establish architectural standards leveraging Azure data services and Microsoft Fabric for analytics, integration, and AI.
- Ensure architectural decisions balance scalability, cost, security, and agility.
Business & Executive Partnership - Partner with C-suite, business leaders, and domain owners to translate strategic priorities into data architecture capabilities. -
Advise leadership on data investment decisions, trade-offs, and long-term implications.
- Act as a trusted authority on how data architecture enables revenue, efficiency, and risk reduction.
Data Platform & Modernization Oversight - Guide design and evolution of cloud/on-prem/hybrid data platforms.
- Define patterns for ingestion, transformation, analytics, ML/AI, and data sharing.
- Ensure platforms are production-ready, resilient, and cost-optimized.
Governance, Trust & Risk Management - Architect enterprise approaches to data governance, quality, lineage, metadata, privacy, and security.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry requirements.
- Champion trusted, auditable data as a foundational enterprise asset.
Operating Model & Enablement - Define the data architecture operating model, including decision rights, standards, and engagement with delivery teams.
- Provide architectural guidance and guardrails without slowing delivery.
- Mentor senior architects and elevate data architecture maturity across teams.
Required Experience & Qualifications Experience - 12+ years in data architecture, with significant experience at enterprise scale (Azure and Fabric focus)-
Proven leadership in data platform strategy, modernization, or transformation
- Experience influencing decisions at executive and board levels
- Hands-on understanding of analytics, cloud data platforms, and data governance
Technical Depth - Enterprise data architecture (conceptual, logical, physical)

Data Architect Director Work as a chieforlead data architect designing, implementing and running complex data architecture solutions. Acknowledged internally and externally as a thought leader and perceived as a role model in the community, can operate effectively at the highest levels within national and multi national organizations. Certification: preferably Capgemini Architects certification level 3 or above, relevant data architecture certifications, IAF andoror industry certifications such as TOGAF 9 or equivalent.
The base compensation range for this role in the posted location is $179,624 to $269,436.
Capgemini provides compensation range information in accordance with applicable national, state, provincial, and local pay transparency laws. The base compensation range listed for this position reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation Capgemini, in good faith, believes it may pay for the role at the time of this posting.
