Job Title: NPI Project Engineer
Locations(s): Tustin, CA- Onsite
Compensation: $80,00- $87,500
We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented New Product Introduction (NPI) Project Engineer to join our Project Development and Solutions team in Tustin, CA. In this high-visibility role, you will lead NPI activities for industrial computer systems, bridging the gap between design engineering and mass production. The ideal candidate is technically capable, proactive, detail-oriented, and able to independently identify and resolve problems while managing multiple priorities. This position requires strong project coordination skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams throughout the product development and launch process.
Responsibilities:- Drive technical support and cross-functional collaboration for new product introduction (NPI), working with customers, sales, engineering (EE/ME), and manufacturing teams to transition embedded PC, Edge AI, and intelligent computing solutions into production.
- Analyze customer requirements and translate them into production-ready solutions; coordinate system integration and validation, perform system-level testing, and support successful deployment of embedded PC, Edge AI, and intelligent computing products.
- Build, assemble, and validate prototype industrial computer and server rack systems, including hands-on modification of parts and components as needed.
- Identify issues early, evaluate potential solutions, and implement appropriate corrective actions within established timelines.
- Develop clear, accurate, and production-ready Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), assembly instructions, test processes, and packaging solutions.
- Manage project timelines, deliverables, dependencies, and cross-functional communication to support successful product launches.
- Support product certification activities, including UL, FCC, CE, and other applicable certifications, and contribute to documentation required for compliance.
- Work within established ISO 9001 processes and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to builds, processes, testing, and engineering changes.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry equipment and periodically sit, stand, or walk for extended periods while performing job duties, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability and willingness to travel periodically for customer visits, trade shows, training, manufacturing support, and other business needs.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (EE, ME, IE, or related field) or equivalent relevant experience.
- 5+ years of experience in NPI, manufacturing engineering, hardware product development, or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project timelines, deliverables, dependencies, and cross-functional activities.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple assignments, and meet established deadlines.
- Ability to communicate technical issues, options, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders.
- Hands-on mechanical and electrical skills, including the ability to use common hand tools and perform hardware modifications and troubleshooting.
- Experience building prototypes, assembling hardware systems, and troubleshooting technical issues.
- Strong documentation skills with the ability to create clear, accurate, and structured build instructions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
- Effective written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate technical issues and develop practical solutions.
- Knowledge of current computer hardware technologies and industry trends.
Preferred Qualifications:- Familiarity with product certification requirements and ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Experience with server rack integration, thermal management, or liquid cooling.
- Experience with industrial computers, embedded systems, or ruggedized hardware.
- Familiarity with concept-to-production and New Product Introduction (NPI) processes.
