Network Engineer
Job Summary
The Network Engineer oversees network and server administration, including firewalls, routers, switches, network protocols, and server maintenance. Maintain secure servers, applications, databases, and manage backups both locally and in the cloud. Responsibilities include implementation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and developing security-focused procedures. The role also involves providing helpdesk support and mentoring helpdesk staff. This is a full-time position, but work hours may vary from 8am - 5pm Monday through Friday. This position reports to the Director of Corporate IT.
Core Responsibilities
- Design and implement new network solutions and improve the efficiency of current networks.
- Install, configure, and support network equipment, including routers, access and core switches, servers, AD, DNS, and DHCP.
- Maintain firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security.
- Maximize network performance through ongoing monitoring, troubleshooting & pen testing.
- Arrange scheduled upgrades and maintain network servers such as file servers, VPN gateways, intrusion detection systems.
- Investigate faults in the network and troubleshoot network outages and issues.
- Ensure all network security updates are installed and maintained in compliance with industry best practice.
- Create comprehensive reports on network operations and maintain network configuration documentation.
- Perform system administration of all windows servers. This includes installing and maintaining the system and application software and keeping patches up-to-date.
- Serve as the primary support for the Storage Area Network (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS) and virtual server infrastructure.
- Performs systems administration functions for Azure and on prem AD & Office 365 systems.
- Monitors and manages system resources, including monitoring all CPU usage, disk usage, and response times to maintain operating efficiency for server and infrastructure equipment.
- Install, configure, and maintain security software (e.g., antivirus programs) for all servers.
- Secure networks through firewalls, password protection and other systems.
- Inspect hardware for vulnerable points of access
- Monitor for performance problems and automate systems administration tasks when possible.
- Maintains server & infrastructure system documentation and logs.
- Maintain corporate backup systems for all servers.
- Keep current with new information technology security trends.

- Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, working remotely is acceptable. Use of a webcam is strongly encouraged in conjunction with Zoom and/ or Microsoft Teams for collaboration and support.

Ideal Candidate
- Experience maintaining a Windows 2022 server environment.
- Must have advanced knowledge of computer systems, Azure AD & on prem AD environments, ESX Virtual Environments, Fortinet firewall environments, SD WAN, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, routing protocols, LAN/ WAN topologies.
- Must have strong Veeam backup software experience.
- Proven experience as a computer security specialist.
- Familiarity with security frameworks (e.g. NIST Cybersecurity framework) and risk management methodologies.
- BSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field is required.
- Cisco CCIE certifications are a plus.
Salary Range
This is a hybrid role. It is anticipated that the working days in the office will be done at our San Jose, CA office. The expected salary range for candidates who will work in San Jose, CA is $130,000. The final offer to our new team member will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the length, breadth, and depth of experience within the job and the industry, education, etc. ATCE is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
