Engineer, Electrical

Job Summary

In this role, you will perform a variety of electrical engineering and design activities under the supervision of senior engineering staff. The Engineer will be self-motivated, organized and creative with the ability to multi-task. This individual must be able to work as a productive and engaged team member, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and innovation, in a fast-paced environment. Strong initiative and follow-through are essential for this job.

Core Responsibilities
  • Perform electrical design utilizing the latest engineering software
  • Perform submittal and shop drawing reviews; ensure accurate, timely responses to RFI's.
  • Document changes and clarifications to scope, schedule, and budget; advise project team.
  • Review data and prepare recommendations, summaries, and cost estimates for consideration by senior engineers and/or managers.
  • Write technical reports to document engineering analysis and findings.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for proposed electrical equipment and systems.
  • Assist senior engineer(s) in reviewing electrical design and development plans and/or cost estimates.
  • Evaluate electrical engineering solutions, equipment and specifications.
  • Acts as a technical advisor to junior professional staff assigned to the project(s).
  • Coordinate, support, and communicate with colleagues across disciplines and receive direction from project leads.
  • Attends and is an active participant in the design and construction project team meetings.
  • Implement ATCE quality assurance procedures during the electrical design process (e.g., Design Criteria submission, Design Checklists, Interdisciplinary Coordination Schedules, etc.)
  • Proposes innovative solutions to design problems.
  • Ability to perform voltage drop calculations, short-circuit calculations, breaker coordination studies, Arc Flash studies, etc.
  • Knowledgeable in the National Electrical Code (NEC), Title 24
  • Edit standard material and construction specifications to match project requirements as part of the preparation of project specifications.
  • Ability to implement electrical design in BIM environment.
  • May serve as a field engineer during construction by performing site visits and preparing written reports of observations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate

  • Knowledge of codes, standards, and construction/engineering processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Revit, and other engineering analysis and compliance software tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) Certification, preferred.
  • LEED Accreditation.

Essential Requirements
  • Strong Knowledge of State and local Building Codes, NEC
  • Proficient in Revit, BIM 360


Salary Range

This is a hybrid role. It is anticipated that the working days in the office will be done at our Monrovia, CA office. The expected salary range for candidates who will work in Monrovia, CA is $89,794. The final offer to our new team member will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the length, breadth, and depth of experience within the job and the industry, education, etc. ATCE is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
