What You'll Do:

    • Perform required regulatory compliance checks, key procedure audits, area inspections, job observations and actively participates in the 4 key safety priorities
    • Ensure that safe work habits are enforced and instruct safe methods of doing work
    • Assist in technical training programs and implementation of approved procedures to achieve an efficient, reliable, and safe operation
    • Respond to field calls from maintenance and operation supervisors to perform quality assurance and quality control activities, root cause failure analysis, change orders for projects, and documentation updates including red-lining, field-fit, and as-build hand drawings to submit for drafting
    • Develop and build Nutrien based QA/QC team looking after in house and onsite quality standards through life cycle of projects and jobs
    • Determine best short-term solution and authorize any significant deviation from current OEM design installed assets by following Management of Change (MOC) process to document such deviations during a failed event for an asset and/or project execution. Submit information to determine long-term solution providing recommendations focusing on asset standardization
    • Provide expertise for troubleshooting mechanical systems deficiencies, and create/update troubleshooting procedures as required to meet mill operational requirements
    • Actively participate in the continuous improvement programs and initiatives for operational excellence, efficiency, effectiveness, safety, and cost reduction opportunities
    • Maintain current with technological developments through attendance at applicable technical seminars and training sessions. Review advances in industry to evaluate possible new technology applications to improve operations at Nutrien Rocanville
    • Backfill and support departments on a term or time period basis including Capital, Mechanical Engineering, Reliability and Process, etc. as required and approved by Engineering Manager and/or Mechanical Engineering Lead
    • Support maintenance and capital departments with RFI responses, TDR review and approvals, scope of work generation and peer review, reviewing change orders from contractors among other tasks
    • Professional Engineer Authentication and Sealing of drawings and specifications
    • Mentor junior engineers and engineer-in-training team members. Collaborate with head office and other engineering disciplines and departments with respect to equipment and piping supports


What You'll Bring:

  • Eligibility to register with APEGS as P.Eng or EIT required
  • Previous experience in a potash mine setting are an asset
  • Strong safety commitment and safety leadership
  • Ability to effectively communicate, written and oral, with a variety of stakeholders - internal and externalExcellent critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong metallurgical expertise considered an asset
  • Experience in welding, corrosion, coatings, pressure vessels/piping, TSASK, ASME, Positive Material Identification and high-grade alloys
  • Detail oriented with the ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software and Oracle are all considered assetsExperience with 3D Modeling and Design Software's is considered an assetClass 5 driver's license, able to lift 50lbs, work from heights, confined spaces
