Job Summary
Seeking an experienced LinuxONE Administrator with strong expertise in deploying and administering Linux on IBM zSystems and LinuxONE environments. The role will support the entire LinuxONE estate across four physical locations and eight IBM LinuxONE Emperor 5 systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Linux distributions, Red Hat OpenShift, IBM Hardware Management Console (HMC), system administration, storage, networking, and Fiber Channel, along with strong client-facing communication, problem determination, and technical leadership capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
• Deploy and administer Linux infrastructure across the organization's entire IBM LinuxONE estate.
• Support LinuxONE systems deployed across four separate physical data center locations.
• Administer and support eight IBM LinuxONE Emperor 5 systems.
• Perform Linux system installation, maintenance, storage administration, and networking activities, including Fiber Channel.
• Administer Linux environments using Red Hat, Canonical Ubuntu, and SUSE Linux distributions.
• Support and administer Red Hat OpenShift environments.
• Work with the IBM Hardware Management Console (HMC) to manage and support LinuxONE infrastructure.
• Analyze requirements, perform problem determination, and troubleshoot complex LinuxONE and Linux infrastructure issues.
• Communicate with clients, document technical requirements and solutions, create presentations, and present technical information to client staff and executive management.
• Assist with architecting and implementing Linux migration solutions.
• Lead technical teams and provide technical guidance across LinuxONE initiatives.
• Collaborate with IBM development organizations to provide technical feedback and support continuous improvement.
• Support service engagement planning, including sizing and scoping services engagements.
• Apply strong problem-solving, negotiation, and project management skills to support client engagements.
Required Qualifications
• 8+ years of experience deploying and/or administering Linux on IBM zSystems or LinuxONE.
• 5+ years of experience working with Red Hat, Canonical Ubuntu, or SUSE Linux distributions.
• 5+ years of experience working with Red Hat OpenShift.
• 5+ years of experience in client-facing communications, requirements analysis, technical documentation, presentation development, and presenting to client staff and executive-level stakeholders.
• 5+ years of experience working with clients and demonstrating strong problem determination and debugging skills.
• 5+ years of experience administering Linux systems, including installation, maintenance, storage, and networking.
• 5+ years of experience with Fiber Channel technologies.
• 5+ years of experience working with the IBM Hardware Management Console (HMC).
