Lead IT Support

Located in Morristown, TN 45 minutes northeast of Knoxville, Precision Boilers manufactures industry-leading electric and fuel-fired hot water boilers and steam generators plus a wide range of accessories such as deaerators and blowdown tanks. Founded in 1946, Precision Boilers' first product was the sump pump. Over the years the company has continued to grow and add new products including the industry recognized High Voltage Jet (HVJ) Electrode Boiler. Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, the Lead I.T. Support will be responsible for evaluating and implementing new network technologies, security and maintaining existing infrastructure. Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the recruitment, hiring, and training of Developers.
  • Technical Lead for team members.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned.

  • Research and present new technologies to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity, and scalability.
  • Develop and enforce best practices.
  • Configure and install software, servers, routers, and other network devices.
  • Monitor network performance and integrity.
  • Resolve issues troubleshooting cloud and local infrastructure.
  • Understanding of communication and routing protocols.
  • Maintain complete technical documentation and diagrams.
  • Maintain technical skills by attending annual seminars and reading literature associated with job functions.
  • Identifies and shares training opportunities for staff to build and improve skills.
  • Assists in the organization of departmental management structure and teams for optimal, efficient operations.
  • Work off-hours to install hardware and software and troubleshoot issues.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant computer science field required.
  • 10 years: Strong proficiency in writing and testing RPG code.
  • Network certifications.

Physical Demands:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas in the facility.
  • Must be able to quickly traverse manufacturing areas.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, crawl, stretch, lay, and squat in order to maintain equipment.


Work Environment:

This position must perform tasks that involve mainly office exposure, sitting behind a desk performing tasks on a computer. Most of their time, the employee will spend time in the office with low to moderate exposure to noise, heat, and cold environment, other physical requirements include walking, bending, hand dexterity, speaking, seeing, and lifting/moving up to 50 pounds. Steel toe shoes, earplugs and safety glasses are always required while on the production floor.
