Engine by Gen connects millions of people with the financial products and content they need, when and where they need it.

We're seeking an Integrations Engineer to sit at the intersection of engineering, solutions, and revenue teams, owning how our products technically integrate into partner ecosystems taking their technical infrastructure into consideration.

You'll spend most of your time designing, building/developing, and validating integrations while being close enough to the business to influence solution strategy and outcomes. You'll work across different technologies (core backend and frontend, APIs, relational DBS like Postgres, Infra/DevOps) with strong focus on customer use cases, scalability, and maintainability. You'll partner closely with Engineering, Sales, SEs, Product, and Partner Solutions to shape integration approaches that are technically sound, commercially viable, and aligned to customer value. You'll be a hands-on problem solver who is comfortable jumping from a technical deep-dive (logs, payloads, code repositories) to a customer-facing conversation about trade-offs and timelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement integrations between our products and customer systems.
  • Work hands-on with REST/GraphQL APIs, webhooks, authentication/authorization, and event-driven architectures to deliver robust integrations.
  • Develop scripts, glue code, and automation (e.g., using Python, JavaScript, or similar languages) to transform data, orchestrate workflows, and connect systems.
  • Collaborate with Sales and SEs to scope and estimate integration work, identify risks, and set realistic expectations with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Act as a technical point of escalation for complex integration issues during pre-sales POCs, pilots, and post-sales deployments.
  • Translate customer and field feedback into repeatable patterns, reusable components, and internal documentation that improve integration velocity and quality.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to influence roadmap based on recurring integration needs, technical gaps, and customer demand.
  • Contribute to best practices, reference architectures, and tooling that improve observability, reliability, and supportability of integrations at scale.

About You:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related field; Master's or Ph.D. preferred.
  • 5+ years of work experience, ideally a combination of technical and commercial; formal technical training through a code academy, or on-the-job training is sufficient.
  • Strong hands-on experience working with APIs (REST/GraphQL), webhooks, JSON/XML, and modern authentication standards (OAuth, SAML, OpenID Connect).
  • Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar) for building integration logic and tooling.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, transformations, and mapping between heterogeneous systems.
  • Comfortable engaging directly with customers to clarify requirements, propose architectures, and explain technical trade-offs in clear, non-jargony language.
  • Demonstrated commercial awareness: you understand the relationship between technical scope, effort, risk, and commercial outcomes (pricing, margins, timelines, and customer value).
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with Sales, SEs, Product, Engineering, and Customer Success in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
  • Bias toward ownership and execution: you enjoy taking an ambiguous problem, structuring it, and driving it through to a solution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear diagrams, specs, and documentation that others can easily follow.
