HDR is currently seeking an ICT Technical Specialist for our Building Engineering Services Business Group located in Chicago, IL. Our team is an integrated facility and infrastructure design team consisting of core services of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, ICT, Structural and Site Civil Engineering. We work in a wide variety of markets including Tech/Media/Telecom, Commercial Real Estate, Healthcare, Science and Technology, Industrial, Water, Federal and Mission Critical buildings and infrastructure. We have an industry leading focus on sustainable design and energy conservation.
The ICT Technical Specialist is responsible for production of design drawings, calculations and specifications. They will also assist in executing the work of the ICT team, under a lead designer. In this role, you will collaborate with the ICT Lead Designer to assist in preparation construction documents and specifications.
In the role of ICT Security Technical Specialist, we'll count on you to:
• Evaluate and apply state-of-the-art low voltage technology systems, techniques, procedures, designs and modifications
• Understand technology infrastructure systems, including communications structured cabling, outside plant systems and fiber-optic systems
• Assist in preparation construction documents and specifications
• Perform engineering assignments under the direct supervision of a licensed engineer
• Design tasks involving judgment in evaluating, selecting and applying engineering techniques and procedures
• Production of design drawings and construction documents through the use of computer aided design and other software
• Preparation of design or quantity calculations
• Preparation of specifications and contract documents
• Coordination with other disciplines as necessary
• Other duties as assigned by the supervising engineer
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in engineering
• Experience working in multi-disciplinary environments

Required Qualifications
• Associate's degree in engineering or related field of study or equivalent work experience
• A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in the discipline to be supported
• Aptitude and demonstrated hands-on experience with computer applications specific to the discipline to be supported
• Knowledge of industry standards specific to the discipline being supported
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Good verbal and written communication skills
