Position Overview:The Facilities Manager is responsible for the overall management, operation, and maintenance of the building's systems and infrastructure. This role is critical in ensuring the facility operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all applicable regulations. The Facilities Manager will provide strategic oversight and day-to-day leadership to the chief engineer and the building engineering team while supporting the long-term performance and preservation of the building.
Responsibilities: - Oversee all building systems, infrastructure, and day-to-day facility operations.
- Oversee daily mechanical operations, ensuring all building systems function properly.
- Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
- Coordinate repairs and restoration projects.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, conditions, and upgrades.
- Provide leadership, direction, and performance management for the chief engineer and the building engineering team.
- Directly oversee the chief engineer and the building engineers.
- Ensure proper staffing, training, and development of the team.
- Conduct evaluations.
- Ensure efficient, safe, and compliant operation of the facility in accordance with all applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
- Manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs to optimize building performance and asset longevity.
- Oversee historic preservation efforts, ensuring maintenance and improvements align with preservation standards.
- Collaborate with preservationists, architects, and staff on restoration and conservative initiatives.
- Monitor building conditions to prevent deterioration and ensure the preservation of original architectural elements.
- Manage vendor and contractor relationships, including procurement, contract negotiation, and performance oversight.
- Source, negotiate, and manage relationships with specialized contractors and service providers.
- Monitor vendor performance and compliance with contract terms and safety requirements.
- Ensure all work adheres to approved standards and requirements.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, including risk management and incident prevention and environmental standards.
- Support budget planning, financial tracking, and cost control related to facilities operations.
- Coordinate capital projects and major repairs in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Maintain documentation, reporting, and operational procedures to support effective facility management.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in facilities management, engineering, business administration, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Significant experience in facilities management, building operations, or property management, preferably in complex or historic environments.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing technical teams, including engineers and maintenance staff.
- Deep knowledge of building systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety) and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience with vendor and contract management, including negotiations and service oversight.
- Strong financial acumen, including experience supporting budgets and managing operating costs.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on operational management.
- Familiarity with historic preservation standards and practices is strongly preferred.
The salary range for this position is $111,137.00 to $133,000.00. The actual salary paid for this position will vary based on market data, an applicant's qualifications, relevant degrees, certifications, and other factors.
