Full Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Director, Finance and working closely with the Toronto Managing Partner, Executive Director, and Chief Financial Officer, this role provides end-to-end leadership of the revenue lifecycle, including work in process, billing, e-billing, rates administration, accounts receivable, cash application, and revenue reporting. The role combines operational ownership, financial analysis, process improvement, and people leadership to drive revenue performance, strengthen controls, and support the firm's strategic and financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Revenue Strategy, Operations & Working Capital Management (40%)

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of Toronto's revenue operations functions, including WIP management, billing, e-billing, rates administration, accounts receivable, cash application, and revenue performance reporting.
  • Develop and execute strategies to improve realization, accelerate billing and collections, optimize working capital, and enhance cash flow.
  • Partner with lawyers, practice groups, and firm leadership to resolve complex client, billing, collections, and revenue-related matters.
  • Lead governance frameworks and processes related to billing, collections, rates, write-offs, and client financial arrangements, ensuring consistency, compliance, and alignment with firm objectives.
  • Maintain strong policies, controls, and operating procedures across the revenue operations function.


Financial Planning, Analysis & Business Performance (20%)

  • Provide strategic financial leadership for revenue planning, budgeting, forecasting, and business performance management for the Toronto office.
  • Lead financial modeling, scenario analysis, and business case development to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare and present executive-level reporting, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership.


Business Intelligence, Transformation & Process Improvement (20%)

  • Develop and execute the revenue operations roadmap, including process transformation, automation initiatives, system enhancements, and data governance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on scalability, efficiency, data quality, client service, and operational effectiveness.
  • Oversee the development and enhancement of reporting, dashboards, analytics, and business intelligence solutions, including Power BI.
  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize technologies, tools, and operating models that support revenue operations and business performance.
  • Drive adoption of best practices, standardized processes, and data-driven decision-making across the organization.


Leadership, Governance & Organizational Development (20%)

  • Lead and develop a high-performing management team to build organizational capability and deliver business results.
  • Establish performance expectations, accountability, talent development, and succession strategies to support organizational growth.
  • Drive organizational effectiveness through continuous improvement of people, processes, technology, and structure.
  • Foster a high-performing, collaborative culture that supports the firm's strategic objectives and long-term success.


Knowledge & Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • CPA designation required; candidates with an equivalent professional accounting credential and directly comparable experience are encouraged to apply.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Proven experience leading financial operations, FP&A, revenue management, billing, or collections within a professional services environment.
  • Experience supporting senior leadership through financial analysis and strategic planning
  • Demonstrated success leading teams, process improvements, system implementations, and organizational change.
  • Experience within a law firm, accounting firm, or consulting organization strongly preferred; direct law firm revenue-cycle experience is an asset.


Skills & Abilities

  • Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Advanced financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and analytical skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Power BI, financial modeling, and dashboards.
  • Experience with ERP and practice management systems, including Aderant.


Salary Range (Toronto Only):

$150,000 - $170,000 annually. The posted salary range reflects the expected compensation for this role. Final offers are determined based on relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
