Job Description

We're seeking Chief Desktop Architect professional to join our Workplace Technology Desktop Engineering team in New York City or Pittsburgh.

The Chief Desktop Architect is the strategic technology leader responsible for defining and executing the long-term vision for BNY's end-user computing environment. While Desktop Engineering provides day-to-day engineering execution and operational delivery, this role focuses on enterprise architecture, innovation, resiliency, and future-state technology strategy across desktop, laptop, and virtual workplace platforms.

This position is critical to safeguarding the organization's operational stability, cyber resilience, regulatory compliance, and service availability. The Chief Desktop Architect provides architectural oversight for platform modernization, vulnerability management, system hardening, lifecycle planning, disaster recovery readiness, and technology risk reduction across a highly interconnected global environment. Through strategic governance and technology direction, the role ensures desktop services remain secure, resilient, recoverable, and aligned with business objectives.

A key responsibility of the role is shaping BNY's future AI endpoint strategy. The Chief Desktop Architect will define and drive the vision for executing AI workloads locally on enterprise laptops and desktops, reducing reliance on cloud-based inferencing and the associated costs, latency, privacy concerns, and token consumption of large language models. This includes leading architectural decisions around next-generation AI-capable devices, edge computing, on-device inferencing, and emerging endpoint technologies that enhance performance while strengthening data protection and operational efficiency.

By establishing the strategic roadmap for workplace technology, the Chief Desktop Architect serves as a vital risk-control and innovation function-protecting service continuity, accelerating technology transformation, strengthening organizational resiliency, and reducing the likelihood and impact of infrastructure disruptions across the enterprise.
